insurance costs

not found a thread about this, so here goes.
I Just bought my 2007 V8 last week and got free 7 day Drive away insurance with Aviva, they then quoted me £1680 Shocked im 46, live in Wigan Wink with a clean licence Thumbs Up
I tried Compare the meercat and confused.com and ended up with £800 fully comp with no claim protection, however the excess was indeed excess, £700 all in.
LV are my currant insurer with the Mercedes E320, at just over £450.
However on the insurance supermarkets site LV wanted £600 plus a tracker, so i thought this was the best option, so i rang them, as i had only just reinsured my Merc, they charged me £9.47, yup thats right nine pounds and 47 pence EXTRA to cover the RRS, i told her about the Supermarket price and the need to have a tracker fitted, but she was having none of it, you dont need a tracker fitted, just ignore Confused.com, and pay the difference of £9.47 and your fully covered.
Anyway, i got my policy through today, and nowhere does it say about having a tracker fitted, and the excess is the standard £250, so my advice, and one i will be using in the future, is to ring insurance companies direct, as the supermarkets seem to be misleading

I see the problem with your quote - a 5 letter word beginning with W. If you live somewhere like Sunny Surrey they would be paying you to have your car on their books. Wink Thumbs Up

Seriously these cars are not cheap to insure and your tip is a helpful one. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

2007 - TDV6 HSE in home counties. 50 year old driver with clean licence

£380 (inc. Business cover) from LV, but with tracker declared and fitted,

LV sent me a form with the insurance that I had to sign and return with proof of the Tracker fitment.

This was direct rather than website as all our innsurance are with LV 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit

Swift Cover were by far the cheapest for me, by a couple of hundred.

Think it was about £550 with no tracker, but then I do live out in the sticks.

They were cheapest for the wife's Juke. And that's certainly not premium! Laughing

Why would you want to drive the FL over the RRS ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)
