What battery

2007 TDV8 RRS with starting problems this morning. All sorts of errors that came and went . Put it on a trickle charger for a few hours and it switched on fine.

A search on here suggests a battery is in order for a start. so the question; which brand is preferable?

I went for a new battery from LR. The price was no worse than the local factors could do. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Fair enough. My only problem will be convincing the franchise branch that now 'deals' with this car that they should pay. 2.5 mths in is a bit short in my mind for a battery to die (or possibly an alternator)

Mine is also a 2007 TDV8 and my battery died a few months after I bought mine. Batteries aren't covered by the LR approved warranty so I doubt the garage will be interested. One thing to check is that the existing battery is the correct one for the vehicle. If it isn't, then you might be able to argue with the garage with a bit more ammunition.

The dead battery in mine was the wrong rating albeit a LR badged item. I didn't bother having the arguement because the dealer I bought from is a bit far away to be going to and fro. I just went to the local LR dealer and bought the battery from them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Currently booked into the same franchise, but Jaguar, for a diagnosis.

LR state the battery isn't covered by the warranty, so if that's duff, I'll probably end up paying. £100 all in I'll deal with. Mind you, a few calls round the local motor factors come out at about £80, with the stealers coming in at about £140. All based on the reg and correct engine spec.

However, it could be the alternator which is £200 reconn parts alone from LR, with associated labour on top I assume. Not happy about that coming my way if they decide its not covered. Still they've said 'they'll come up with something' if that's the case.

So, diagnosed as the alternator has given up the ghost. Currently with Stratstone Jaguar Edinburgh who have been most helpful (so far) and have the car in bits fitting a replacement.

My maths was wrong before; picked up very end October, so not 2mths in yet. We'll see the state of play tomorrow when I pick up again. Doubt any costs will come my way.
