United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey
WANTED: Range Rover Sport

If you are thinking of selling your car and would prefer a quick sale with the minimum of hassle and avoiding tyre kickers/time wasters, please let me know.

I am a private cash buyer i.e. no part-ex etc and looking for an HSE Range Rover Sport from around 2005 to 2007.

Either a TDV6 or TDV8 will do, whichever comes first at the right price.

Key Requirements are:

- Colour: I will consider most exterior colours but NOT Silver, Red, Orange or Green (sorry Confused ). Any interior colour should be fine.

- Condition: The car must be well looked after with no major scrapes, marks, scuffs or dents. Also, no accident repaired cars please

- History: The car must have been well maintained with servicing done every 12 months

- Mileage: I will consider any car with up to 60k genuine miles

- Nice to Haves: Although not essential, it would be nice if your RRS had rear screens (for the kids), side steps and 20" alloys

- Location: I am located in North London/Watford and happy to travel approx. 1 hour to view the right car. I may consider travelling further (if you are near a train station) for a particularly attractive and keenly priced RRS Wink

I think I have covered most of the key criteria.

Please let me know what you have and how much you are looking for it (and please be reasonable).
In the first instance, please PM me through this site Thumbs Up

I am not looking to waste your time and hopefully you will feel the same.

A donation to Martin for the upkeep of the site and this great RRS community will be made if I find my RRS through here.

Hi there,

Not sure if you still looking. I've just spent 10 minutes writing out a long email only for not to be able to send PM due to not having enough posts, and it lost all the text I had written.

If you send me a PM with your email address I will send you a direct email with some information.

Many thanks

Andy

Happy hunting mate.

My experience is that mileage is less of a guide than usage.

Check the service history intervals and gauge how it's been used.

Short stop start school runs in town are more impactive on certain parts of the engine than a regular motorway use.

Go for good condition and a top spec.

I too have rear screens and they're great.

Good luck. 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE in Artic Frost. 20" 2010 HST Alloys, sidesteps, Hawke tips, plus minor bits and bobs along with a remap. Four spike spiders ready for the Alps again now tucked up in their garage boxes...

Message sent.

I echo the comments made above.

Also, make sure the seller is happy for an AA/RAC inspection, that should weedle (?) out those who have something to hide

Just wondering what the consensus on here is with regard to buying an RRS.

Looking around, a lot of cars seem to be over priced with private buyers asking more than dealers for their cars.

I have read a couple of times that winter pushes the price of these cars up only to fall back in the spring.
Also, there is a lot of talk about a double dip recession pending. I know that in the last dip in 2008, car values took a big hit.

Given the above, should I be waiting until early spring (March/April) before buying when prices will be more realistic ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

4x4's will always be more expensive come winter time, just as sports cars/convertibles are more expensive in the run up to summer.

I would say so.

If you are looking to buy a luxury good such as a RRS or sports car, it is unlikely that you will really be hit by the recession (unless you believe the daily mail!). Yes you may get the odd person who has to sell out of financial need, so a bargain could be had.

I think the main issue with the last recession regarding cars is that there were huge stockpiles of new cars sat at holding terminals, so prices dropped which in turn had a knock-on effect to used prices. Since 2008 companies haven't produced at the same levels, to negate the risk of having high stock levels, both for this reason and also the effect of the disasters that occured in Asia.

But, could just be my opinion! Smile

I think if you shop around you'll get a good deal. There's a pretty major recession on and dealers need cash flow. Christmas and January will probably be pretty tight for dealers. I'm sure if you get yourself into and advantageous cash buyer position you'll do a good deal.

Find a good car is what I'd be focussing upon....

If it's what you want then do a deal.

Hi if you are still looking for a RRS we have a 2007 model in Buckingham Blue with Almond leather, 20"inch stormers with recent Conti's. The car was MOT'd on 1st October and the Land Rover Warranty was renewed for another year at that time. FLRSH it's my wife's car I believe the current mileage is 58K ( I haven't been home for six months). It also has a tracker fitted somewhere! Its done motorway runs most weekends (150 miles) and 25 mile daily commutes 4days a week.
I was thinking about replacing it with a newer one when I am home for Christmas, I would rather sell it privately than trade it but don't want loads of 'geezers' looking at it when I am not there, maybe the timings right ? We are just outside Leeds. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer Steve. Unfortunately Leeds is a little too far from me and I am leaning towarss a TDV8 at the moment.
