Approved Used Warranty Questions ??

Hi all,

I am in the market for an RRS and wanted to clarify some questions I had about the official used warranty from Land Rover.

1) Is there a charge to transfer the remainder of an Approved Used warranty from the existing owner to the new owner ?

2) Can the Land Rover Select Warranty (up to 10 years/100k miles) be extended just before it expires and what is the rough cost ?

3) Is this warranty (LR Select) any good or am I better off with a third party warranty such as Warranty Wise or Warranty Direct ?

4) Can the Land Rover Approved Warranty (up to 5 years/75k miles) be extended just before it expires and what is the rough cost ?

Thanks Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

Can only help with Q4 - as long as the car is under 5 years old and (I think) 70,000 miles you can extend the approved warranty and this even applies if you are adding an extra year to the first 12 months provided by a main dealer. We have just done this, so we get 24 months approved used warranty on a 5 year old car Very Happy .

Additional cost was £695. Not sure if you would get the same price if not bought through a main dealer though.

+1 and no transfer cost, at least when I did it for the chap who bought my old car (he may have been charged?) ============

Thanks guys.

Is the LR warranty better than those from Warranty Direct and Warranty Wise when it comes to level of cover and ease of claiming ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

i say yes, plenty of people think otherwise

but then I discovered that people actually get fobbed off with "your windscreen isn't OEM, so we don't cover the wiper motors" so then it occurred to me perhaps people don't pick fights the way I do when it comes to warranty claims!

I went into this with great detail when chosing my warranty and WD for me was a better option and i still get LR to repair my motor should anything go wrong, The LR warranty doesn't cover wear and tear for starters Wink

Hi RRS

One thing to take into account with the age of TDV8 of car you are looking at is, they are a little prone to alternator failure. The alternator burns out and takes the battery with it.the WD warranty covered both parts in my case.

There is always a big debate about TDV8 versus TDV6 but there is fair difference in power and the sound is far more appealing!

Happy hunting Thumbs Up Kiel

Thanks for the advice on teh cars. I have driven both and the TDV8 is definitely the more powerful and desireable car. The problem it is a bit of a stretch to get from a TDV6 (at around £20k) to a TDV8 (at £25k+)

I will keep my eye out for one but may wait until March when hopefully the winter demand has subsided Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)
