Just picked up my RRS SC & I'm hoping you can help me o

Hey all,

Picked up my first Range Rover today. Its a Supercharged Sport 2006. Manufactured 07/06 registered in March 2007. Its done 29k miles and its a minter.

I had everything checked out with the local dealer and all is well.

Now, firstly its not the colour I was looking for as I did want white. Its kinda growing on me but when anyone asks what colour it is I'm stumped.. Is it green, Gold, silvery/green/gold Laughing .. I'd say a rich champagne - anyone shed any light? MOT (Dubai equivalent) says Golden, registration card says Silver with Green and insurance says silver (its definitely not just silver). It has a full service, feels tights as a drum to drive. Its Ivory with Piano Black interior.

Anyhoo I have a couple of questions as a newbie - and yes I've trawled the forum and found answers to most my questions. So here's a couple if anyone an help me out:

1) What colour is it? - Here's a couple of shots I took and added to my photobucket -

http://s1083.photobucket.com/albums/j396/Oliver_Burton/

2) I've recently sold an X5 that used a similar Air suspension set up and failed constantly. Now, I'm recovering from quite a bad motocross accident and I have to lower the suspension to access level a lot each day - will this dramatically reduce the life of it? or are they quite solid on the Range Rover? X5's were a joke and needed replacing once a year (at least) - the airbag set up leaking allover the shop.

3) got a rattle coming from the front right speaker (harman Kardan Logic 7 I believe) is this common? would it normally be a speaker replacement? or do screws, door panel poppers come loose on these - I'm finding it rattles on deep bass tracks - and bloody annoying!

4) I'm considering 'foiling' the car in white or black - anyone done this before?

Any help/advice would be great guys Thumbs Up

Hi Oliver and welcome. I believe the colour you have to be ipenema sand. This is only from seeing the pic on my iPad so I old be wrong.

Hope your going to enjoy your new car. Can't really comment on anything else mechanical at the moment. But I'm sure others here will.

Rattle wont be the speaker it's the front part of the door card tray. Fold a bit paper up and stuff it in... Cured it on mine, annoyed the he'll out me for weeks. Laughing

Regards the suspension, I use it as land rover intended each and every time I get in and out and have never had an issue with it.

I assume by folding u near covering the car in vinyl , called wrapping here in the up, very common. Do a google search on linyl wrapped range rover sport and u will find loads of examples.

hmmm interesting. Thanks for the examples.

I don't understand why there are so many types of 1 colour that are almost exactly the same ... 'Oh honey we can't buy that 1 its not atacama sand its Ipanema Sand, what would the neighbours think' haha

I'm having a love/hate relationship with the colour at the moment. I'm think I'm gonna wrap it in Black I think - that's black black - simple old black Laughing

Just have to do some research on the quality of wrapping and see a finished one in the flesh to make up my mind.

On another note I've just been reading some old threads about my suspension questions and it does seem that if you do use access height a lot then you are much more susceptible to failure. Kinda figures that the more you use something the more wear you'll get naturally. Its just the X5 I had needed the air compressors and airbags changing constantly.. I'll slide out ungracefully at full ride height till i'm more comfortable that she wont breakdown - that's how paranoid BMW has got me.

Yep! She's Atacama Sand. Found the paint colour name & code just next to the bonnet catch.

@ X5Pea - the card stopped the rattle a treat! Thanks buddy!

Thumbs Up

Every couple of years LR like to "change" their colours slightly... so you usually can identify the colour by the year and vice versa RRS gone

Atacama Sand, was made available sometime in 2006. This was a very unique pale greenish-gold-silver color that had a very short run in the USA

The variants in the text thinking about are similar to those of the ' you buy my car I am a Dr and in Nigeria and you have to pay deposit to shipping company to get the car' LOL If it blocked it because of that then thats one damn good filter..
