No I do have watches and wear them on holiday etc but not everyday. I have 2 nice watches but couldn't / wouldn't pay thousands for one.

I have a Rolex Air King Date that I've had for about 20 years and I can't really see me replacing it. It's very understated and rather plain and I wear it everyday, pretty much regardless of what I'm doing.
However, I rather like the Rolex Daytona:
http://www.blitzwatches.co.uk/productdetail.asp?productid=4037
But I don't understand why the RRP is £4,000, but it's offered for sale at £6,500. Any ideas anyone ?

As you were, just read the rest of the details, apparently, there is a 7 year waiting list Shocked Shocked

JayMann my guy says the V4 is going to cost about £50K can't see that myself.

VA yes I fancy one of those Brietling they do look a lovely watch, a bit big I personally think a 40mm face is about right. I was also informed that there is something like a £10k fine if you set the watch off by mistake.

VA/Misery - that Breitling has a Satellite Transponder with it (aka an EPIRB) originally it cost something like £30k and yes you had to sign a disclaimer. These days it wouldn't be much use as the operating frequency of the Satellite Distress system has changed, so unless you buy one made in the last 6 years the EPIRB isn't a lot of use! If you did set it off the only way you would know is when the rescue helicopter woke you up in the middle of the night hovering over your house............................. doesn't make for happy neighbours at 2am. There isn't a fine for calling the rescue services out, you just get a bill for a couple of hours running of a Seaking Helicopter, but if you could afford the watch in the first place that problably isn't too much of a problem Laughing 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Hmmmmm good question M,

I love watches - but can't stand BLING - I have smallish wrists & most watches just simply look too big.

I've been wearing a Longines Golden Wing for several years now & unless I lose it or it breaks etc etc .... think i'll be wearing it for sometime. Again I wear it 24/7 ..........

This is the chronograph version - I also have the ordinary version as does Mrs MDP

I do like this Breitling........

Martin, I too have fairly small wrists and find most chunky type watches just look stupid which is why I like Tags and Breitlings - they have ranges of watches that have smaller faces as well as big chunky sports watches. Also the the bracelets on those watches can have 3 or 4 links taken out without them looking like thay have been shortened. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The only reason we've got his'n'her's Cartiers is because we bought each other ones for wedding pressies.

Got a pic from honeymoon somewhere. We took it for insurance purposes. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Not really got into the watch thing yet.. ive just got a relatively cheapo £100 DKNY watch.. not quite in the same league as the above.. but i do have an apreciation for them.. which i think i will get into more as i get older.

Dunno why but there is this RADO black ceramic styled strap watch, i always see in Dubai/Saudia, and i've always said i will buy it next time, but everytime i go, the bloody thing just gets more and more expensive!

I have got a fake breitling and a fake Tag somewhere though!

Apparantly RADO are guaranteed sctrachproof glass, bezel and strap.

That's got to be good because my Cartier is an everyday watch and is getting scratched. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Sunday Times Style section yesterday had an item about men's watches.....
Seiko have just launched a new model that costs a mere £73,000 , Credor Spring Drive Sonnerie............ reputedly the quietest watch in the world!
The one that I would sooner have is the IWC Portuguese
http://www.timezone.com/library/itsabouttime/itsabout0004 at a mere £16,000!

But for those who like a little bling in their life how about a Jacob 4 Time Zone Diamond Tourbillon at £154,000 with just a sprinkling of cheap diamonds on it!
http://www.jacobandco.com/tourbillion1.htm
I think the Diamond Limited Edition might be just a tad OTT in comparison!
If you are interested Mohammed Al Fayed's corner shop will sell you one.
You could have an RRS S/C for each foot and still be able to afford the fuel for a life time for the cost of that watch! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Mrs ST was telling me this weekend that Pig Spice bought Beckham a £500k watch for his birthday. I think that was from Jacobs (Not the cream crackers!)
