remaps ??

Hi all, been through loads of threads on how much better they drive ! But how about the other side of the coin, or what are the down sides ? And why did LR not send them out at this spec ?

The only downside I have found so far is wanting to hear that glorious sound as I push the loud pedal. It's addictive!

As for why don't they come from LR like this........not really sure. Some will say tuned as standard for all fuel qualitys around the world, or to reduce emissions. I don't honestly know but t was the best mod done to mine Cool TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

There are a number of reasons why land rover dont send them out mapped:
1) Fuel quality for different markets
2) Emissions
3) Most mechanical sympathy eg least stressed engines, in particular at the extreme of operation
4) Making sure the vehicle works in the widest variety of markets
5) Legalities in different markets

Im sure the list could go on Mike

Ive not had one done as a remap invalidates the warranty and although ive wanted one, i want my warranty more.

I dont think it always invalidates your emissions, but that's a reason why LR's map is what it is, remember its a world market Mike

I wouldnt expect any problem in the UK - the emission point is across each market and why LR have the map that they do, not how it affects your car Thumbs Up Mike

If you use the site sponsor BAS then you get the ability to retune between factory standard and improved mapping anytime you want i.e. MOT/service time. RRS TDV8 (loving it)

Remap....well impressed, go for it

Had my 05 plate TDV6 HSE remapped and it is well worth the money. More power, fantastic mid range acceleration improvement and better fuel economy.

Still slow to pull out but other than that I rate my remap highly.

If you use command shift to pull away just pop it into 1st gear and you will see it make a whole lot of difference but then don't forget to either pop it straight back into auto or use your command shift to go up your gears, if you use auto only to get away from a standing start it sets off in 2nd gear hence the slow get away Wink

I think that is the great thing about the new 8 speed gear box, it pulls straight from the moment you put your foot down. Very Happy

I would love to get a remap and have been looking recently at an AmD one, but although my heart says yes, the heads saying no as I don't want to screw up the LR warranty. Confused

If I went for one of these changeable (eg BAS) maps, is there any way that LR can see you've had one installed, is there any log of the data etc. I'm not very good on the technical side of things Embarassed ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

There isn't a changeable remap for the 3.0, only other way i guess is to have a second ecu. Thumbs Up

I use command shift to select 1st at junctions quite often. Makes a huge difference. As one often needs to accelerate meaningfully in such situations, I often just let it change up automatically to 2nd and 3rd. This does require using the full rev range though Wink . Not one for those who worry about maintaining a 30mpg average... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
