United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Siberian Silver
Active corning on a 2008 to 2010 conversion - dash error.

Hello all,

I am doing a 2010 conversion on a 2008 HSE TDV8 RRS.

I ordered the front lights with the active corning etc (part numbers LR023558 and LR023557) and today they were plugged in. Everything appears to work fine bar the AFS (the function where the lights turn when you turn a corner) and it throws a fault up on the dash - anyone got any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

Jon

THis could be anything - even that the new lights arent compatible with the old system! but check the obvious first, connections, resetting etc Mike

I have no idea what could be wrong, sorry.

Anyway, to start with, some info...

All Xenon headlights have the cornering lights which are designed to project a spread of light from the vehicle at about 45 degrees to the vehicle axis. These cornering lamps are controlled by the left hand steering column multifunction switch. They will come on when the lighting control switch is in the headlamp position, the engine is running and a turn signal indicator is selected. They are deactivated if the vehicle speed exceeds 25 mph (40 km/h).

This same cornering light is called a cornering lamp/static bending lamp in Xenon headlamps with AFS. Meaning, in addition to the above function, the static bending lamps/cornering lamps also operate with a steering angle sensor signal. The static bending lamp operation is variable with the speed of the vehicle and the steering wheel angle. The static bending lamps illuminate at 0 mph (0 km/h) when the steering wheel rotation reaches 20 degrees. At 43 mph (70 km/h) the static bending lamps will illuminate when the steering wheel angle reaches 10 degrees. The static bending lamps will be switched off when the vehicle speed exceeds 43 mph (70 km/h).

1. Is/was your 2008 RRS equipped with Bi-Xenon Headlights with AFS? Did it have the necessary wiring/sensor etc.?
2. What do you mean "turn a corner"? As in actually driving (as mentioned above) or do you mean just flipping the turn signal left/right and activating the cornering lamp?

What fault is thrown up on the dash?

I am not sure how much you understand the "mechanics" of the lighting system so please excuse me if the above explanation is redundant to you! Wink Malaysia Boleh!

I'm still investigating (and I had a nasty red fault come up on the dash to do with the suspension which I've been focusing on for the past few days although its fixed now).

What I have noticed is I have the corning lights, i.e. when I'm turning into a road etc additional lights come on lighting up the side of the road I'm turning into (quite useful).

I think from reading your post I now need to check if my car had AFS to start with which is where the main beam lights actually move too when for instance you are going round a rounder-about or alike - is that correct?

The error on the dash (right hand side dial) is a flashing yellow light with a headlamp picture.

I'm not too technical so please bare with me.

Thanks,

Jon

The error on the dash - what does your manual say? Anything to do with fog lamps? Malaysia Boleh!
