For what its worth Mrs Nutt and I used the new AT's on our Freelander2 on the H4H 2013 Euro Rally and never once ran out of grip..... Ground clearance yes, often but not grip.

The problem is that no one seems to make a decent off road tyre in 255/50/19. The Goodyear Duratrac might be tougher but it's 255/55. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR is pretty tough (lots of D3/4 drivers swear by them) but again they're 255/55. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I have 255/55/R19 general grabber AT's on my disco3 and are very pleased with them. Haven't been off road since fitting them, except for caravan and muddy fields, but are no worse on road than the (worn) scorpions they replaced. Very slight 'hum' if you listen for it though due to the more aggressive tread profile. |

I have Grabber ATs on my RRS and they are very good off road. The noise gets worse as they wear - mine now howl at about 30mph and again at about 60-70mph - which is annoying given how often we sit at those speeds in the UK! Not sure whether to go for Cooper LTZ or back to the Pirelli ATR again. Quite fancy some Duratracs but most of my use at the moment is road so they might be a bit too off-road oriented. They might be a choice for a second set later in the year as a winter tyre though... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

the problem in OZ is that some of the off road work requires a LT Tyre, something that can take a bit
