Advice for a newbee!!

Hi guys!

This my first post on this forum. Within the next month or so, I am going to be in the Market for a RRS. My budget will be in the region of £20k - £25k. Having kept a keen eye on Autotrader and Pistonheads, I am hoping that this budget will get me into a 2006 or 2007 2.7 TDV6 HSE with relatively reasonable mileage from an approved used franchised dealership. Do you guys think this is achievable?

Spec wise, I would be looking for a car in java black with ebony leather. I'm not too fussed about wheels but would prefer OE with a size of 20" or smaller.

Having been younger and more naive when purchasing my previous vehicles, I have always compromised on other spec whilst in a rush to get into the car I want faster. Now that I am a little more mature, I am willing to hold out for the perfect car with the perfect spec. Consequently, I am looking for the following:

Touchscreen satnav
Harmon Kardon audio
Aluminium or Piano black inlays,
PDC front and rear
Xenons
Electric heated seats
Cooler box
Brembo brakes
Cruise control

Can you guys tell me which of the above options come standard with the HSE spec and which would have been an optional extra?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Only thing I'm not sure you will get is the piano black inlays. I think that's aftermarket only although I'm sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong! Bow down happy hunting.

Cheers for the advice guys.

I love the piano black inlays. To be fair, I would settle for aftermarket parts from Powerful or Overfinch.

I'd love a TDV8 but don't think my budget would stretch to it. What is the real world mpg of the larger engine?

I've just p/x my 2007 '57 plate' 3.6 tdv8 for a newer RRS 3.6 tdv8.

It's on eBay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-LAND-ROVER-...2c6013170f

It's got everything you wanted, plus tinted side indicators, Upgraded Leather Steering Wheels from Powerful

If you do buy it, I've got a years unlimited mileage warranty I'd sign over to you.

I'm not on a comission, just had an excellent customer service from Stratstone, yes Stratstone.

Just make sure you deal with Dean, he'll sort you out.

next month or so prices will start to rise as demand increases, Black on Black is the most desirable and will become harder to find i expect. 25k is a good budget so your average miles 2007 HSE is more than achievable.

High miles TDV8's will fall into your price bracket as well, suggest a test drive now and then get your cash together, as demand increases you will need to move fast to secure a a good RRS

Mpg is not that different between the two and you'll be thrashing the 2.7 so much to keep up with all the TDV8's that it will be the same anyway! Seriously, my car returns around 24mpg and I never go on motorways, always a and b roads in West Sussex and not much running for longer than 30 mins so I'm not being very economical with it. On one long m'way run I returned 28mpg and if you're thinking of towing then there's just no comparison between the two..

Happy hunting!

J

I'd love to buy one immediately, however have to wait until mid November until an investment I have matures and I can have access to the funds.

I'm acutely aware that prices will rise with the onset of Winter and am keeping my fingers crossed that the snow won't fall until I manage to buy a RRS!

The TDV8 sounds like a great proposition however I'll just havevto wait and see what comes up.

Kungfu, don't bust a gut over getting a V8 though imo they are the ones to get Razz, the RRS is an amazing car, in fact I love 'em; i'm on my third (a V6 as it happens) and the fourth arrives Monday (V8 Thumbs Up ). There's no real difference in fuel consumption at all as far as i can tell, surprising tho' that may seem. I'm getting 31 mpg on my V6 compared to 27-28 with my previous V8, but the range on a full tank is the same - identical in fact at about 460 miles. (yeh i know I drive like a granny Laughing )

The V8 is a beautiful engine no question about it. It pulls on forever (and sounds great!!) but beware, once you've had one.... Whistle you can't go back, and there's no more V8 diesel lumps for the RRS Crying or Very sad

Either way happy hunting!
