Hi, I've been offered a 2008 58 plate 2.7 S which has many of the HSE spec - Sat Nav, Leather, 20" Wheels, multi function steering wheel, Privacy glass etc.
It is a 1 owner but with 105,000 miles and full LR service history last done in April. Loads of receipts and is in excellent condition.
My question is would this make a good/sensible buy in this spec and mileage and what should I look out for remembering this will be an independent sale not through the trade?
I haven't sorted an exact price but we are talking less than 18k.

Having been looking at low mileage HSE at that age I know they have been around the £25-27k mark, loose a couple of grand on spec and a few more on mileage I suppose you would be at about £20k for a dealer car at your spec. So £18k does not sound too far away. This mileage does put people off but no reason to be too worried if it has been well maintained...I would just be looking at mid teens so that you can bank some money for warranty and worn out consumables.

My sister brought one similar - S badges but almost HSE spec but with only 10k miles on it in 2010 and paid only £19000 for it. It has never missed a beat nor given a moment's cause for concern. It even had Evoque style 6 (LRX pattern) 20" alloys fitted. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Also depends somewhat how it's gonna be used if you do get it.

Will it be for cruising about in or for example is it going to be the main vehicle thrashing to and from work each day with a 100+ mile a day round trip commute for instance

Regardless of all that the resounding message seems to be get a warranty  Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

sounds like a pretty good price to me retail price on a 58 plate TDV6 S with 30kmiles is £25k

so your looking at around 7k discount for the extra miles.... pretty decent deal to me, check gear box works correctly and there is no knocking noises from the suspension. Is also be looking at other high cost consumables such as tyres, disks & pads , exhausts etc.
