Starting problem 58 TDV8

I've just done nearly 800 miles since Friday, and today the car takes 3 attempts to start. Starter whizzes over fine, but won't fire till the 3rd attempt. Happened today after 3 hot starts, cool start after left for 2 hours. Anyone had similar?

Just recalled that this morning, in a rush, I didn't wait for the glow plugs to warm up - just turned the engine over immediately. Could be a coincidence, but usually coincidences are allied...!!!

I don't think that has anything to do with it in the current climate, its not really cold enough yet, i think its probably a bit more sinester, My guess its one of the many sensors not recognizing that the engine wants to start.
