United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
How to sell my car and value?

Here's the thing:

I am looking to sell my car to help fund a house move (and I really dont want to sell) and wanted some advice on the best way place to sell. I also wanted some advice on whether to ge a few things sorted before selling or leave it as is but point out what needs sorting. (i'm way too honest!)

Its a 2.7 TDV6 registered September 2005 so making it a 55 reg. Originally imported from Holland in a full UK HSE spec. It has according to the V5 four previous owners, with a fully stamped up service book all at the same dealer before I took ownership of it in april last year.

Its in java black with alpacca leather.

The small issues to resolve:

It has a deep scratch on the drivers side side window which has been there since I bought it.
It has a scrape on the underside of the front bumper colour coded body trim where it went over a kerb parking front in.
Front cigarette lighter doesnt work (someone previously spilt a fizzy drink in the cupholder and it coroded the lighter so needs replacing (idont smoke so has never been an issue for me)
Both front tyres are at 2mm which was highlighted at the mot/service done three weeks ago, rear two are 6mm

More expensive issue:

22 inch stormer style wheels are kerbed badly on both nearside wheels and the lacquer appears feathered (dont know how to describe it) on all four so I would, if keeping the car, replace them. But wheels are a personal choice and would rather the new owner chose what they wanted.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Its done 54000 miles
Colour coded front and frear bumpers and side body mouldings and pillars with I believe a super charger grill.

When I bought it it said it had a stage 3 colour coding in supercharged spec.

Wasnt sure what that meant!

It is one of the first RRS built & hence buyers are likely to be first time RRS buyers & probably on a tighter budget but even so first impressions will be important so if I were you I would do the following:

Window - no
Bumper - yes definately. To buyers this could be (falsely) indicative of a hard life
Fag lighter - get a quote & then decide. I find it useful for phone charging & so might viewers
Tyres - no. If you end up selling to trade you will lose out
Wheels - get a quote to revamp them & then decide. If you dont, at least you can tell the viewers the cost

Any help?

Timf

thanks for that Timf

I was going to get the bumper done and asked them to look at it when it went in for its service three weeks ago and as usual they didnt do it but if I was chhosing, and I guess I am, I will get that done. The cigarette lighter was quoted at about £200 as they have to remove the whole centre comsol between the seats, or thats what they told me! I have a newly fitted ipod dock that charges your phone at the same time and there is always the one on the back of the centre consol, but not as convenient admittedly.
I have failed to find anyone to refurb the wheels as they are diamond cut/polished and 22 inches but was guessing at about £100 per wheel. if I could find anyone. I just didnt want to spend money on new wheels of my choice when somebody might want something else.

Stephen don't take it to a main dealer for the fixes, ask around the Land Rover community and find out if there are any local LR specialists in your area, their labour rates are 1/3 to 1/4 of a main dealers and often you can get the parts at the same discounted price that the indie gets them at. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Stephen,

I would sell it as it is and point out the issues, it is 6 years old, no one expects a perfect vehicle unless they buy new

I might well get the under bumper scrape done as I can get it done reasonably locally not through landrover and hopefully wont cost much.

anyone care to venture a suggested value? As is!

I would get the lighter socket done before the scrape. Also if your alloys are 22", they may well have a bit of value in them. I would consider putting on a standard set that you could pick up off ebay and get your 22's refurbed and flog them seperately. This could also help you to avoid having to replace the tyres as it sounds like you will have to replace them to stay legal yourself if the car takes any length of time to sell.

Value should be at the upper end of private sales for your year as the mileage is very low. Somewhere around £18.5K.

I have just joined RRS.co.uk as I am in the market for either a Discovery or an RRS. I need the car to occasionally drive to clients and to tow my rally car and accomodate various spares. I tried to send Stephen a PM as I may be interested in the car myself, but as I am a newbie the site won't allow me to PM yet. I guess I can accept a PM, so please feel free to get in touch. Thanks.
