Was treated to a spectacular day today at the Southampton Boat Show courtesy of Land Rover, both myself and Misery lorded it up and went on a 25ish mile jaunt around the Hampshire countryside.

What can I say, that Evoque is one amazing car, its all good and well viewing it, which we have done at numerous motor shows and LR events, but driving it is something else, this is (and to use one of our westside Atlantic cousins overused words) AWESOME.

Funny how it felt so cramped and (for me) claustrophobic stationary at the motor shows etc, but it has multiple driving seat adjustments which offer a fantastic "car like" driving position and in the flesh / on the road, it felt as big as if not slightly roomier than the F2 (which IMO is old school LR - you sit on it?).

Great car, fantastic no expense spared day with superb cuisine at lunchtime and afternoon cakes and coffee that were ridiculously endulgent (no complaints here), a fantastic cruise in a Princess 50, shame the weather turned as we headed back Sad , at £815k I might give a purchase a wide berth Whistle

That car is an absolute winner, the pseudo 4x4 wannabe producers must be cra Censored ing, it has the looks, the drive, the driving position and a somewhat reasonable pricetag, a winning formula.

......as a bonus, we got a hint of next Big Daddy and its "potential" unveiling, albeit only under massive interrogation and word play Whistle USA here we come Thumbs Up L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

I drove a 3 door SD4 prestige Manual coupe at a dealers today .... my impressions were that it was a very capable motorway car, manual box is really good and I would spec it in manual over auto. the drive is very different from FL2.

rear view is not brilliant but huge wing mirrors make up for it. Seats are very comfy.

Having said that i want one less having driven in it then when i sat in one in the showroom it certainly did not feel as special as other RR products namely because of the lack of command driving position.. you sit quite low in this car.

still considering it for Mrs ZV but we will be looking at the competition as well 2011 MY- RRS HSE - Zermatt -Ebony-Piano .... its a monochrome world

Competition? Wash your mouth out! It may be competition in guise, but nothing has the thoroughbred DNA, kudos and that badge. Wink L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

thats a good delivery date, when i was chatting to the girls in service she thought it would be atleast May delivery if i wanted one

I think i would have to have a long test drive though to make my mind up, not just a 20 min spin around the block with a dealer sat in the back

Not you aswel - onther dealer was shocked at being able to get one on the December build! I spoke to Hunters southampton and they said march but never called me back - clearly didnt take me seriously. So went down to Guy salomon/salamon in Portsmouth and they said something about an open build slot and promised it to arrive end of december so we could pick up first week of Jan - he can stick it if its not here in Dec/Jan Whistle

ordered for the wife last week, white dynamic 5 door with red and black interior. no glass or contrast roof. 20 shadow chrome alloys, privacy and homelink.

Didnt fancy paying 750 for the pano and it looks abit lower with the black roof.

Got one of the last two Dec build slots with March delivery for those that missed out.
