Out on the mountain bikes this weekend with a friend on a very muddy course............put both bikes in the back with the seats down and a load of plastic sheeting............... turned out to be a bit of a hassle and I have conceded to getting a bike rack.

I'd rather pay full price! Cheers Nick, looks good Any idea how much removable tow bar is, and is there space for it under the carpet in the boot? |

Enough said.... Johnny i can see you caravanning no problems...IM Sure mrs f will love that idea. At least you can plug GHD's in (other brands available) to a caravan where as you cant when youre camping ! |

I absolutely love camping, proper camping though in the middle of nowhere next to a stream, not on a campsite.

I keep my removable tow bar in the underfloor polystyrene tray - there is a slot for it

Do I really need the electrics? I'll only be carrying 2 bikes, can you not see the lights? |

You can but can you see them correctly or see the reg plate at night? No. Not worth the pull by the boys on the beat. The Thule 3 bike model is awesome at £139.99 and avoids all doubt. List price after build for a tow bar at the dealers is near £700!! I got mine from an independent tow bar specialist for £300 with an invoice! Mine is branded Thule , who make them for LR, the plastics are black instead of green. I thought the same about just buying the bar and not running electrics, but it was pointed out it is illegal esp at night, and if you had a rear end shunt your insurance would be void! I got the Thule 3 bike carrier as well, fir the price you can't beat it. If you go down that route make sure you get a long security cable and run in through the towing eye and bikes, if you stop for a coffee the bikes will be secure from the common thief! Cheers Dave MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps! Gone: a comprehensive list of imprezas and a Merc ML AMG |
