Hi Chris,

It all depends on what you wanted done? I am assuming you want paintwork correction done? Rather than just a protection detail. If it were a protection detail it would be about the right price maybe a tad expensive....

For Paintwork correction with us you would be looking at a 2 day job, there is simply no way (unless there is 2 of you on machines) that you could correct a RRS to an acceptable standard and do all the other associated jobs (applying protection, detailing wheels, glass, plastics, interior etc) in one day. I recently detailed Dazza's RRS (a member on this forum)he helped, he only had one day and I didnt touch the interior... I think he left at 9pm in the end.

A protection detail on a RRS which is the above less the correction would be £250 and we would need the car for a day. If you wanted it corrected I would be doing you and me an injustice by charging you any less than £400.00 and not spending 2 full days on your vehicle.

I firmly believe in business when you conduct any transaction both parties need to be happy with the deal. If one side isnt happy there really isnt any point in continuing. I may be more expensive than some detailers but I have rent, rates, heating, lighting and not forgetting VAT (as we turn over over £60,000) and we also pay Tax on the money we earn. I know that "some" of the guys out there doing it dont have these expenses and can therefore undercut our prices.

I have been detailing for 10 years and seen a lot of people come and go I have also spent a lot of time "correcting" customers cars after they have had them detailed, I guess its that buy cheap buy twice thing.

Finally, dont get me wrong... I am sure there is a lot of people out there who would be happy to earn a small amount of money for a detail and will do a fantastic job. I can only tell you what I see from my own experience. (hence the long reply and not a "yeah, that will do" type answer.

Thanks for reading.

Regards,

John

If they are doing it on the side have you checked insurance details? What if they burn through a panel whilst polishing, scratch it etc?

Depends what he is doing ... but if he is not a pro detailer it seems expensive does he have liability insurance ?

the main detailer up here charges 300 quid a day in their workshop .. and that is in the self styled oil capital of europe with hourly rates to match. 2011 MY- RRS HSE - Zermatt -Ebony-Piano .... its a monochrome world

2006- BMW Z4M Roadster -Titanium Silver

Club - Ex Defender & Disco 3

Thats another risk you take...

The thing with insurance is that there is two types of cover.

There is the public liability ie. if you the customer trip over a cable and break your leg but then as well as this a detailer "should" have cover for vehicles being worked upon, something very different.

The trouble is a lot of customers ask for insurance, are shown a liability insurance and think there car is covered for damage when in fact it isnt.

problem is everyone is a detailer these days, ever car geek with a meguairs PC and a camera thinks he can "detail"

Id leave it to the pro's on something like your RRS to much of a risk associated with screwing it up, id be paying extra to mitigate against the risk Thumbs Up

ps polished bliss has a good name but obviously he's up in aberdeen

£400 is a bargain. I clean and polish my car regularly, takes about 4 hours on a sunday with plenty of cups of tea. If johnyopolis was nearer to me my sport would be booked in asap, you just cant get the finish these guys can and it should only need doing once a year, the rest of the time you clean it yourself and the bis difference is that when you clean it yourself after having a pro detail it it looks amazing again and everyone will think your a pro cleaner.
