Thats an incredible price bearing in mind to polish a RRS to a level that doesn't have buffer trails and holograms on it takes about 10 hours, then you have the application of the protection... Here is a pic of a RRS I have polished very recently: Not that I am doubting that price for one minute.. But I have seen valeters who have machine polished cars, using the same mop head for the last however many cars and then using a filling polish and when you pick it up it looks amazing but as soon as you wash it the first time the fillers come out and your left with the half moon buffer trails that you see on some cars that come out of dealers. What you also have to bear in mind is that you only have approx 140 microns of paint on the average vehicle. This is made up of Primer, Coloured Paint and then Clear Coat. 140 Microns is about the thickness of 2 A4 sheets of paper. This is for all 3 layers so, if you have your vehicle Machine Polished 3 times a year I shouldn't think by the end of year 2 that there will be much clear coat left and you "could" get Clear Coat Failure... When I polish a vehicle I will always use a paint depth gauge which will give you an indication of the amount of paint on the vehicle and also give you a good indication if there have been any smart repairs or accident repairs. I am not meaning to make this post sound like doom and gloom I just want you guys to be fully informed about machine polishing and the processes involved. The thought of machine polishing scares me. Can you recommend anybody detailing around Glasgow area or in central belt of Scotland? Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

You will want some sealant, I would suggest Zaino Z-5 or Zaino Z-2. Bang for buck this is on the money you will get 30 coats for under £20 and 3 coats will last up to 8 months maybe more through the summer. I wouldn't bother with the tape unless your machine polishing... I tend to also stay within a system so if for example I am doing a Carnauba Wax detail for a client I will use all Swissvax where possible and if its a sealant I will use all Zaino. This is because I firmly believe that a company who manufactures these products will manufacture there products to work in harmony together and bond together etc. hence I only really use 2 or 3 brands for finishing. Your more than welcome to come to hook and have a cup of tea with me and we can go through (and you can try) various products I have (about £4,000 at last count!) that I have collected over the last 10 years....
