MAC LION UPGRADE

Has anyone had any issue upgrading to lion through the free offer from apple?

I bought a new iMac yesterday and cannot get the free upgrade to download, bet if i paid the money for it the download would be error free!

I know this isn't the answer to your question but check that all your software is compatible with Lion as many are not - if you use Appleworks it now doesn't! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Thanks guys,

I cannot imagine any software conflicts as i bought the latest iMac and straight out the box yesterday i went for the upgrade, i was given my redemption code and when entered everything went ok. It is only now i find that when the Lion icon appears in app store it fails to download.

Grrrrrrr

Its a BIG download 3Gb maybe...

If you still have problems I know apple have released it as a memory stick upgrade. I am sure if you were to speak to the nice people of Apple and explain your issues you would be able to get one of those.

I like Lion myself. The full screen apps in Safari and iTunes as well as iPhoto are great. I love launchpad the gestures, I have to say unless you have a track pad some of the gestures are fidly with the mouse.

The version on my 15" Macbook Pro is just a dream. being able to flick left and right between desktop and full screen apps, its like having about 5 different computers going at once. No minimising etc I rate it anyway!

There is about 250 different changes take a look here for them all - http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/whats-new/

HTH Thumbs Up

my lion upgrade took hours to download (did do it the day after it was released though).

Its not a massive change, but what is updated is very good. I particularly like being able to add a digital signature to PDF files via preview, saves having to have adobe acrobat installed. My only gripe was that my version of office stopped working (as did my original Photoshop CS) as Lion no longer supports old PowerPC code.

Downloaded and updated within 2 hours..........seems ok some nice new features, but not groundbreaking by any means......bit disappointing really, I guess the juices have to run dry at some point eh Apple Confused

As Jobsie is probably an avid RRS fan and undoubtedly reading this, good luck in your more relaxed approach to life old bean, its been real Whistle

Will be interesting to see how they perform now the master has gone, going by the latest stock reports, people are twitchy.........in all honesty, I think they have peaked innovation wise and it will be a few years of just nip and tucking. The iPhone IMO has had its day at the top and we will never see it at the top again, Android has put pay to that (if you believe the stats). L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

Oh well i have an express lane case open now, time to give them a phone later today.

Must admit though 2 days into the iMac ownership, i love it. So much better than windows etc - however Safari is something i just am not getting on with it is far too basic

Don't bother upgrading from Snow Leopard just yet as there are too many bugs. Give it 'till the end of the year and don't be conned to being an early adopter. I won't go past Apple kit and software but early versions are released for developers to iron out the bugs which is a bit of a shame. Still .........Window 7 is a poor relation. Long suffering RRS Owner, but I can't help it!
