2005 HSE on 20" wheels..............

1st question to ask the owner - Has it got the uprated steering rack? The early cars needed an upgraded steering rack to run on 20" wheels without damage to the steering.

2nd question - has it had the cambelt changed yet

3rd question - when was the last time the low range box was used?

4th question - photos look like it's at some sort of farm/ livery place - has it been used to tow a horse box? These cars are excellent towcars but if it has been on the gymkhana run all it's life could be that the gearbox and transmission are getting tired - ask if the gearbox oil has ever been changed

Next take a look at the tyres and check they are the correct ones for a 2005 HSE on 20" wheels and not budget tyres. These are heavy cars and they must have the right rated tyres for insurance

There are so many out there now that it is a buyers choice, don't just buy the first one that looks half decent. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Tim.. many thanks for your reply and advice Smile . Just spoke to the seller and might not see this one now as he is not in the area for at least 1 week. So am still looking around, I am in no rush and will wait for the right car at the right price to come along Wink

Another thing to watch is that the early cars didn't come with the dynamic pack, it was an extra, a colleague of mine had a 55 plate 2.7 and it handled like a barge! Worst thing I've driven and almost put me off buying an RRS until I test drove a later model Shocked

Early ones with the Dynamic Pack could take them straight out of the factory, and S/C's have always had 20" wheels, IIRC it was MY2006.5 (ie cars produced from July 2006 for 2007) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes the Sports without the Dynamic Response do tend to lean a little on cornering and braking Laughing but it's the nature of the beast, you get used to it. I have noticed the later models with Dynamic seem to understeer like a container ship ! once again it's something you get used too ! Rolling with laughter 08 2.7 RRS "S"

2005 2.7 HSE Java black, leather seats, sunroof, parking sesnors, side steos, 19" wheels (Can fit 20" no problem) Full service history allways had warrenty cover.

Will have around 88k on the clock by November/December roughly.

Reason for sale is I am going 2 upgrade to a newer model hopefully a HST if a can find the rite one.
