Wearing wire or pipe in rear suspension

Hi,

Heard a rubbing noise from the driver's side rear wheel today (2007 RRS TDV8). Investigated and found a pipe / wire was rubbing the inner face of the wheel. This item runs from the body in front of the rear suspension, along in front of the lower front wishbone arm and to the front of the hub. On the the other side of the car the item is held out of the way by a metal "shepard's crook" hook. I have managed to get the rubbing item in to its corresponding hook now.

The question is, what is the item?

Is it a sensor cable (brake wear or ABS perhaps)? I've had a feel (did it at the side of the road with the wheel in place) and it feels/looks like the brake line runs across the suspension arm so I don't think it's a brake pipe.

Anyone able to identify without photos? I shall try to get to a garage early next week but it would be nice to know it's not going to suddenly dump brake fluid everywhere.

Thanks,

hi rrstdv8

the brake warning cable leads into the brake caliper(attached to a brake pad) as does the brake line

both attach at the rear of the caliper(you can see them if you get down on your hands and knees and look from behind the car below the exhausts) the brake line being the larger diameter.

the abs sensor cable sits in the same region but at the front side of the cv joint boot(corrugated bell shaped thing) Shocked

hope this helps Kiel

Thanks. Thumbs Up
Sounds like the ABS sensor then. Nothing showing on the dash as a warning so I'm happy it's currently safe to drive. Will get the garage to have a look when I can. I shall then talk to the LR dealer who supplied (they're further than the nearest dealer) to get it sorted on the warranty. At least I reckon it should be covered as it should have been spotted during the LR inspection process IMO. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Morning

yeah thats good new

I pretty sure the warranty will be honored by your local LR garage to save you the travel

I,m not sure how long you've had your car but its worth spending a bit of time making sure everything is working as it should before take the trip to the dealers

There are fantastic cars but not without there foibles so the extended warranty was a wise idea

cheers Kiel
