Disconnect Battery - Offshore Worker

Hi Folks!

I work offshore on a 3/3 rotation, i recently bought a RRS and it will be kept in the garage

I notice in the users manual there is a procedure for disconnecting the battery

I take it there should be no issued with me doing this?

I've ran out of time to buy a trickle charger and leave tonight

I've got a feeling if i arrive back in 3 weeks the battery MAY be flat

All opinions welcome!

Craig

Hi Craig,

I leave mine all the time when i go offshore, no issues what so ever mate. Car starts fine with no problems at all, even after 3 weekers.

You shouldn't have an issue with it.

Chris

I agree with Chris, 3 weeks should be fine. I never had a problem leaving mine for that sort
of period (although it's only been a few times). I have heard some horror stories with trickle chargers though, causing fires mainly. I'm sure there will be some folks on here that could advise on what types to buy and what to stay clear of. 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

I use a CTEK 3600 on a 1800 petrol engine and it is the best charger I have ever had. car is used only every couple of weeks on average and can sit in the garage for 4 to 6 weeks at a time.
