unfortunatley not its one of those circumstances where the vehicle has only done 20000miles and has start to devlop faults which were covered under TSB' which could of been changed under warranty but never been changed - had a couple of problems which it in the last 6 months which really should of been changed following TSB's but never got done. I will try what booby suggested as hes given me some great advice in the past - thanks guys |

Tried the emergency release booby - pulled the full centre console up - not much room as it wont go past the gear lever. Do you have to pull all the console up or just the silver part from the EPB swithc to the gear lever - Ive read the post you spoke about and i did see the White sleeve with a loop, pulled on it with the hook and it seemed to come up easily - should I just keep pulling??? at a bit of an angle at the moment as im working to the side of the centree console |

It would be easier to work if you took off the gear knob (just pull it up by force but be careful). Malaysia Boleh!

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic17273....pb+release once you have the EPB switch removed use a torch to find the loop cable with a white clip. Its a bit of a fiddle . I lifted the whole middle console up as far as the gear lever would allow to give me a better view. Hook on , put your screw driver through and pull up |

Thats it mate - mine was under the park brake switch not under the cup holders Now I have released the damn thing and the car is moving am I okay to continue to drive without it until I can get the funds together to get it fixed. I have heard a lot of people who say they never use it anyway ?? Also is there anyway I can get rid of the red flashing parkbrake light on the dashboard. Ive tried removing fuse 41 - electric parkbrake 5amp - in the hope it would disable the switch incase the wife forgot and tried to put it on, and was really surprised that when I took the fuse out I tried the EPB again (foolish I know but couldnt resist) and it still made the same noise as before - thought it would be disabled with no fuse in ??? |

First it sounds like the EPB brake pads might have come adrift - a well known problem that any non franchise LR specialist will be able to fix for a lot less than a franchised dealer due to their lower labour rates. You should be able to drive OK without problems although hillstarts could be a problem! When you put the car into P the gearbox is locked anyway so the car shouldn't be able to move. Best to get it fixed asap as this is also your emergency brake system in case of normal brakes failing - pulling on the EPB at speed will activate the ABS and pull the car up very quickly but it eats EPB pads so don't try it too often to see what it is like! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
