RRS stuck on drive - please help

RRS stuck on my drive due to EPB being applied??

I have tried to release manually as per the handbook

every time I try to release manually I get the screeching CAT noise from the rear wheels and the Censored wont move.

any ideaif there is anything I can do to get it to move or am I going to have to phone a recovery to get it to the stealers - they tell me if circa a £1000 to fix - ???

Any help would be really aprreciated - supposed to be going to Cornwall on Monday with the Kids -

the ex is not going to be impressed Twisted Evil

There are a couple of TSB's in my gallery on this problem.
Have you tried releasing it automatically? In D or R, press the accelerator to release the parkbrake.

Alternatively, you could do the "emergency release"...
Just pull up the console at the gearlever/epb switch and you will see a white sleeve coming upwards with a loop at the top. Just yank this loop (you could use the jack screw rotating hook) and this will release the EPB.

Do a search, there was a posting here on this and if I'm not mistaken, someone over in the disco3 forum has some pictures.

Good luck! Malaysia Boleh!

unfortunatley not its one of those circumstances where the vehicle has only done 20000miles and has start to devlop faults which were covered under TSB' which could of been changed under warranty but never been changed - had a couple of problems which it in the last 6 months which really should of been changed following TSB's but never got done. I will try what booby suggested as hes given me some great advice in the past - thanks guys

Tried the emergency release booby - pulled the full centre console up - not much room as it wont go past the gear lever. Do you have to pull all the console up or just the silver part from the EPB swithc to the gear lever - Ive read the post you spoke about and i did see the White sleeve with a loop, pulled on it with the hook and it seemed to come up easily - should I just keep pulling??? at a bit of an angle at the moment as im working to the side of the centree console

It would be easier to work if you took off the gear knob (just pull it up by force but be careful). Malaysia Boleh!

Where did you find picture diagram of what to remove?? I had my brake stick on once but it freed itself after reversing hard.
I was looking to find what to remove just in case. I remember seeing photo with white clip couldn't remember where, looked on RRS and D3 site but couldnt find it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Sometimes you need to pull up the console at the gear-lever (at the EPB switch) to gain access to the loop.... Malaysia Boleh!

once you have the EPB switch removed use a torch to find the loop cable with a white clip. Its a bit of a fiddle . I lifted the whole middle console up as far as the gear lever would allow to give me a better view. Hook on , put your screw driver through and pull up

Thats it mate - mine was under the park brake switch not under the cup holders

Now I have released the damn thing and the car is moving am I okay to continue to drive without it until I can get the funds together to get it fixed. I have heard a lot of people who say they never use it anyway ?? Also is there anyway I can get rid of the red flashing parkbrake light on the dashboard. Ive tried removing fuse 41 - electric parkbrake 5amp - in the hope it would disable the switch incase the wife forgot and tried to put it on, and was really surprised that when I took the fuse out I tried the EPB again (foolish I know but couldnt resist) and it still made the same noise as before - thought it would be disabled with no fuse in ???

First it sounds like the EPB brake pads might have come adrift - a well known problem that any non franchise LR specialist will be able to fix for a lot less than a franchised dealer due to their lower labour rates. You should be able to drive OK without problems although hillstarts could be a problem! When you put the car into P the gearbox is locked anyway so the car shouldn't be able to move. Best to get it fixed asap as this is also your emergency brake system in case of normal brakes failing - pulling on the EPB at speed will activate the ABS and pull the car up very quickly but it eats EPB pads so don't try it too often to see what it is like! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
