United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
Next Generation RRS details.

I attended a 'focus group' (market research) last week and was pleasantly surprised when I found out it was on behalf of Land Rover.

In a nutshell, they are contemplating making an 'RS' version of the next Range Rover Sport to challenge the Cayenne Turbo and AMG/M Cars more seriously than the current supercharged version.

I was lucky enough to see the next model which continues the LRX design ethos. The front end looks more or less identical to the Evoque and the back looks quite similar too with the lights riding a high waistline and a sloping rear roof. Inside the centre console also carries over the Evoque styling but with more supportive looking seats. They are also considering a 7 seat version with 2 folding seats in the boot like the current X5/Q7.

They are considering a 2+2 interior for the RS version with a centre console running through the middle of the car through the 2 back seats. The seats were a racing/bucket type. The outside styling of the RS version was very aggressive with rear quad tailpipes and plenty of ventilation around the front bumper and wings. There would also be a n option for carbon ceramic brakes.

The two engines that stood out for the RS version were a petrol V8 supercharged with 560bhp and 4.6s 0-60, and a diesels hybrid with 300bhp, 5.6s 0-60 and 150g/km CO2.

The RS badge is being used to mirror the Jaguar RS cars (i.e the new XK-RS)

We all thought the car was horrendous to start with but it really grew on us and we all wanted one by the end of the 2 hour group, especially when seeing the normal RRS compared to the RRS-RS.

Obviously the car is still in development and what we saw was not final but what was clear is that if you don't like the way the Evoque looks, the current RRS is probably the last you'll ever own.

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Zermatt Silver

Very interesting any idea on launch dates MY2013?

it is clear that next RRS will be in line with evoque in terms of looks to develop family theme.

as said before this could spell the end of the D4 if next gen RRS it is to be offered as a 7 seater.

the D4 GS market will buy the new defender and the D4 HSE/XS brigade will buy RRS 7.
