Am I really saying this

Well met up with Mr WW yesterday and we did a back to back test drive of the new 4.4 diesel and the 5.0 SC big daddies.

it saddens me to say this but my money will be going on the new 4.4. Embarassed Embarassed Most of you know all my other toys are petrol.

The SC is just stupidly quick from stand still but the pull from the 4.4 was fantastic, and i seriously think apart from sitting at the lights and hitting her hard the 4.4 would be a better all round option.

VERY VERY IMPRESSED !!! Bow down Bow down Bow down

agreed, the 5.0 S/c is fantastic if you are incredibly wealthy or don't pay for your fuel, or live in a country where petrol is cents.

However, the 4.4 TDV8 is incredible - and in a normal(ish) real life Embarassed why would you want anything else.

embarrassed myself there RR ownership isn't really normal is it!

Spot on Misery.

The Supercharged in Big Daddy is unnecessary, fine for the Sport, it has the German competition to contend with, it needs the brutal force of the Supercharger just to stand a chance in the world of 0-62's.............

........I too cannot believe I am saying this but the Diesel is just amazing, buckets of Torque and a smooth delivery, just a shame when you are at a standstill and that distant chatter appears. Not intrusive, but present. I have to say the TDV8 in 4.4 guise is the one to have, 110%. Putting aside wealth, the Diesel was simply a nicer car to drive, in everyday driving, a proper RR drive.........the 5.0 made it feel a bit hoodlam and that is not what the RR is about, something we found out when those 510 horses kicked in and Mr Misery had the W Censored r sign offered to him out of a peasants window Whistle

I remember when Clarkson said go for the Diesel and I thought "oh do shut up Jezza"........how right he was.

4.4 Diesel Power !@!@......all the way! Mr. Green L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Zambezi Silver

Have to agree that the TdV8 is nice, had a play with one on sunday in a FF and it had the "waft" factor just right, no fuss & fluster it just went.... The JLR diesel engine range is quite impressive now, apart from the usage of the Transit engine in Defender that is. 08 2.7 RRS "S"
