United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Bonatti Grey

Kam,

How about a Nissan Pathfinder? It is 7 seats (same arrangement as the D3) and is much more modern than the Toyota. The T-spec model has all the toys including sat nav and colour reversing camera. I was considering getting one, then got the RRS instead. Matt
-------------------------------------------
RRS ownership for 1 yr, then D3 for 2 yrs. Then cut back to old bangers and working my way back up through two Peugeots in 6 months. Now got Saab 9-5 2.3t and enjoying the performance!

Heard very good things about Pathfinders recently, only downside is a poor turning circle.

Guys.. thanks for all the comments.. i've been relaying them to him.. and even chucking other possibilities in their path..

Conclusions: Land Cruiser. too dated.
Land Cruiser colorado smaller thingy.. don't like look of.
Disco3.. looks too much like a transit connect van! (his words not mine!)

After looking at every alternative.. they are down to two contenders..

Old Shape ML 270 CDI with family pack & Lux pack. Found two/three to choose from 05's with kit around £29-30k.

Believe it or not VA.. they have reconsidered the XC90 Volvo after me telling them that the Volvo i had wasn't half bad, so should be considered.. and they are now looking at that as the favourite.
2.4Diesel Auto with sat nav etc, leather, & other bits for around £30k again 05 plates and the like..

So VA.. whats so good about the Volvo then? you have a petrol one right?

The old-shape ML is a shed - wasn't in THE worst car in last years JD Power? It's the lesser of two evils isn't it... ML or XC90. Shocked

Yeah exactly.. personally my money would still go on the landcruiser if faced with this situation.. but they don't see it the same way..

Lesser of two evils indeed.. i think the newest of the ML's were slightly better.. my dads old partner retired with a W reg ML270 CDI years ago.. and thats been a pile of crud.. fallen to pieces and electrical gremlins galore.. i personally wouldn't buy an old shape car for still quite big money.. i.e. £30k? so XC90 despite being a Volvo will have to be the only choice i think..

Anyone know anyone who wants an X5..
3.0d Sport Auto.
23k miles / 2002
Black, Tints, Alu side steps, loads of extras, Sat Nav & TV
Around £26k mark. Finance arrangeable.
PM me if anyone knows anyone.

I've got a petrol - I've been told not to touch the diesel.

What's good? Locking it in the garage so I don't have to see it. I wish I had the D3! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

YES!!! the X5 is mint.. Xenons, black heated Leather.. 23 bloody K on the clock! they do need a 7 seater to be fair.. but its a shame we can't keep the car between the family.. as its mint and hardly used!

this was bought when X5's were the THING! so its been kind of a nice car..
It also has a number plate on it which reads GAFFAR (not actual plate if any cloners are reading!) Its black with black'd out windows.. so looks cool.. but don't think it would have the same effect on an XC90..!?

why not the diesel.. ?
the 2.4d engine i had in that V70 was a bit on the loud side.. but pulled very well almost too aggressively at times (easy to torque steer and lots of front wheelspin!) and was quite frugal.. don't think it would be quite the same in the heavier XC90 but surely for a family cruiser.. replacing the 3.0d in the X5 would be a good move to go for the diesel again.. down to 180 bhp but its a family baby wagon carrier and stuff mover.. so don't care too much..

BHP in a 2002 X5 is only 188 anyway, isn't it?

204bhp was the 3 series uprated 3.0d
218bhp was the X5 uprate.

188 X5 will probably have more torque than new X90 though and will still be quicker. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad
