Car cloning

I've just found out my Beemer has been cloned.. ... Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award

My therapist says it's good to share...

Got a parking ticket through from Mid Sussex district council over an unpaid parking ticket.

Phoned and challenged it as I live in the frozen wasteland of the North.

They said quite casually that they'd had another case of this 2 days ago.

Now, I actually got a letter from Tesco about 2 months ago claiming that my car had been parked in their Addlestone branch car park beyond 2 hrs but it transpires that Addlestone is in Surrey (I think it was!) - Bit of a trek for a 1/2 price Chablis deal!

I put that down to an idiot attendant getting it wrong and moved on - no problem.

So, Mid Sussex Counil have a rear photo of the alleged car and it turns out that it is indeed a BMW on the correct plate so the lady asked me if I put this pic and a pic of my car side by side could you tell them apart.

Transpires that the di head who has cloned it has put the plates on a non-sport. Also, mine has the silver model badge on the back and this one is de-badged.

What narks me the most is that I now have to spend my weekend:

Reporting this to my local police station
Obtaining a covering letter from them
Sending this letter to Mid Sussex Council
Report to DVLA
Send them copy of letter

What a bummer. No harm done in the end though. Let's just hope they don't use it for an armed robbery next time, otherwise you might get one of those visits from plod where they don't bother knocking.
