I am fitting a new one as my plastic has faded to a milky white colour and want to know does anyone know how to remove the old one or has a how-to diagram. I am doing this on Saturday if anyone can help... Much appreciated.

I have a similar problem with my underscreen plastic. It has gone white-ish and seems to have lost its finish. I pointed this out to SWMBO who proceeded to give it a scrape with her fingernail making it even worse

I have tried cheap 'back to black' plastic spray - but this had no effect on this bit. Brought my other plastic trim up lovely though I have just put a colour magic black restorer polish on it that was lying around in the garage and this seems to have improved it slightly.

Can anyone please

a. Tell me how I remove this part
b. Recommend a good product that will restore it (I would also be interested in what people use on the door pillars - I have a couple of scratches on mine that could do with 'hiding'.

I have not used this product myself but I do use their other products for detailing my RRS and they give excellent results with not too much effort.

Must be a lot cheaper and easier if it does the job!

Sorry I don't know (too technical for me) It is the plastic bit that the windscreen wipers are attached to that runs all across the front windscreen and the water runs down into. It is the bit that is visible looking at the car.

I think I would stick to son of a gun spray for it opposed to the brake oil me thinks

Be careful when removing the panel, as it has a tendency to deform and when reinstalled can then leave a gap between the screen and the softer edge of the plastic. Mine was damaged by the windscreen installer and had to be replaced due to the way the trim tool was used to detach the clips. Charlesrmh

I think I will start off with trying to 'renovate' as given Charlesrmh's comments and my distinct lack of technical ability I think I would prefer a discoloured 'plenum chamber' than a leaky windscreen.

Thanks everyone for the advice on the products I see from some searching that Auto Express recommend Mer Bumper & External Vinyl Cleaning Gel or Turtle Wax Black in a Flash Matt. Has anyone got experience of either of these?

I have just improved the look of mine with Autoglym Bodyshop Plastic and Rubber Cleaner 07 B it now looks much better, this also works well on the black trim either side of the windscreen and the mirror covers.
