you just need a standard lead that plugs into the headphone socket..needs to be same at both ends...get one that is retractable ..easier to tuck it away than a standard size lead

Oh right thanks what is the correct name for this lead so can search for one on eBay??
And what are the retractable ones not seen them ???

So am I right in thinking that it's just connected by he aux in the bk of the rrs and the head phone socket in iPhone 4 and not the charger slot ??

I wouldn't bother. you can hardly hear it as the aux input doesn't go through the amp.

When you say its plenty loud enough if the full volume on the stereo is 35, what would you say the volume is when plugged into aux?? Maybe there's something wrong with mine. I would say mine is half the normal volume.

just tried it and its about 5 units lower than the radio...you can adjust volume using the ipod/iphone volume setting and by using the amp in the car

Aux input does go through the amp, but is controlled to be at a lower level. I would prefer that it was louder, but assume they have done this to allow for a wide variation in the volume of the input device. You'd be pretty mad if you managed to blow the amplifier by having an input that was too loud

well mine deff isn't worth plugging in. I have tried different leads with mine, messed around with the volume settings on my iphone and i've even tried the wifes iphone incase mine was on the blink but nothing makes it loud enough to listen to it above half volume. mind you!!! If i have the phone plugged into aux and it rings, thats loud!

felstmeister, have you tried a lead that goes from the dock connector to a 3.5 jack? This is the loudest output you can get from an iPhone/iPod etc?

I find that I am now just making data disks with 10 albums per disk at least, saves messing with the wires etc.

Make sure that you only burn MP3's to the disk, car won't recognise anything that is AAC (tracks bought from iTunes), iTunes will convert any AAC tracks to MP3 for you though.
You can burn a playlist from iTunes as a data cd but then you end up with one folder and hundreds of tracks. I found it easier to create folders outside of iTunes (1 per album) and then burn the data disk with the folder structure. The car then recognises the folders which makes navigation a little easier
