Daylight Running Lamps

Just purchased a brand new HSE and I was suprised to see that it doesn't have Daylight Running Lamps which I thought were a legal requirement in the UK now on all cars.

Anyhow, any idea if the 2011 model year has them installed and ready to be switched on, and if so, can they be activated by my dealer?

I personally dont see why you would want possibly the most pointless feature.

But they arent a legal requirement in the UK for a few more years Mike

The legal requirement links to the manufacture date, older designs don't have to have it...hence my March 2011 car doesn't Mike

As I understand it the legislation relates to new models as opposed to new cars hence Evoque will have them.

In the manual it states that you can have the DRL turned on at the dealers, just as you can have the mirrors powerfold when you turn the alarm on and the top bit of the tail gate open etc.

i have seen a few RRS with the lights turned on and it appears that it the little white LEDs around the headlights, I was thinking of doing it to mine.

Thanks very much!

Dealer can put DRL on but it also turns on the dipped beam aswell well it did on my MY10. If the lights are left in Auto mode the dash lights come on as the light fades.

Its on page 71

"Daytime running lamps
In certain markets, the side lamps, licence plate
lamps and headlamp low beams will illuminate
with the engine running and the lamps master
switch turned off. The instrument pack
illumination remains off.
Unless they are required or
prohibited by law, daytime running
lamps can be disabled or enabled by
a Land Rover Dealer/Authorised Repairer."

- sorry about the formating, taken from the pdf manual

Cheers

I asked the dealer and LR CS and both said the DRL could not be switched on on a UK spec 2011 car. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

You can setup the auto fold mirrors by using the control options on the steering wheel. This is also where you can switch on/off the automatic locking doors, headlamp delay, auto dip reversing mirror, and if you have it installed, change the side from let to right for hi-beam assist depending what country you're driving in.
