Personal Telephone Integration Question

Hi All,

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question. But, if you plan to have a Blue Tooth phone, would you still have to have the Personal Telephone Integration kit to get all those phone niceties? I wouldn't think so. But, I'm not quite sure.

Thanks.

There's no BT without the PTI option - what you then have the further choice of is whether to fit a cradle or not. Benefits of having a cradle are that the phone charges while you drive (useful to not have a separate charger cluttering up the car) and that your phonebook synchs to the car so you can make calls via the head unit/voice control. I think the cradle is worth its weight in gold, personally Very Happy

Obviously you need a supported phone to be able to spec a cradle.

Don't forget that you get an external antenna if you use the physical cradle...

I hope that by the time I'm ready to buy, they'll have cradles for the snazzier flip phones. I'm in the States. So, we don't get as many of the niceties as you guys do in Europe.

Quite right, grommet... thanks, forgot about that.

So as you see, Hugebob - the PTI's a bit of a no-brainer. And I believe PTI becomes a standard piece of kit for the 2007MY on the HSE (it's currently a cost option to have PTI on anything but the SC model).

Because I've got the SC model, the PTI came into the spec, however I then had to buy a cradle from my dealer to fit the phone. I like it but I have found that the phone software is incredibly unreliable.

I have now had 2 nokia 6230's that have suddenly gone funny and I can no longer view anything in the phone via the cradle interface. So I can charge the phone up but cannot dial from it without removing it from the cradle and doing it over Bluetooth. That's just silly. It seemed to happen when I took the SIM out and put it inot another phone. Once back in the 6230, it would not read the SIM. Evil or Very Mad

I know it's the phone's fault though because the first time I had the problem I went through a process of elimination, once the handset itself had been replaced, it all went back to normal.

But, I now have a cradle for a 6230 that does not work. I need a new 6230 but am not sure where I can find one cheap to replace the one I have (on O2)

Any ideas from the floor? L319 D4 HSE

Had the same problem and had to buy a used 6230 on ebay but seemingly the latest software does work for both the 6230 and the newer 6230i and that phone is still available in shops. Cradle is the same for both phones. SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD

I have the PTI and 6230i.

Anyone know the price of the cradle please? It's finally gone! Replaced with BMW 730SE in Sophisto grey Xirallic finish with Oyster (Ivory) and black interior. DAB, Climate glass, Ceramic iDrive and gear selector, power boot and iPhone Bluetooth pack - luvvin' it!
