Dealers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As some know I have been looking to change the RRS to either a BMW or Merc. The 2 local dealers to me have been useless. I don't like to haggle for cars and tell salesmen that I want the best possible deal that they can do. Firstly the BMW salesman comes back with a completely rubbish deal and I tell him so, he comes back with another better deal but still bad and I say no, he then comes back with a third deal and is annoyed when I tell him I've gone to another dealer who has offered me a deal better than his 'best' third deal - why these salesmen don't understand a simple instruction to give me their best deal I don't understand.

The Merc dealer has also been bad - Have spent the last week trying to get a finance quote from him and he hasn' sent over anything. Off today to another dealer who hopefully will be better.

Tell me about it! I've bought 8 new vehicles this year and every experience bar 1 has been unpleasant.

I'm having exactly the same issue, perhaps worse.

Decided to ditch the Audi after 9 months, I have hit 12k already Shocked so a new car and mileage muncher is required.

Used both the BMW and Merc online configurations with exactly the car I wanted. Requested test drives of the 2 cars and stated deal must be done by end of this week.

What's happened? Diddly squat. Got an email from the Merc dealer stating to call him if I wanted to pursue further Shocked , just had a voicemail from BMW (which is better than nothing I guess) asking what car I am interested in, WTF Shocked

What is the F Censored g point of using these online tools and choosing the options etc when they blatantly just ignore your requests and configs Rolling Eyes

I must be in the wrong business, but we are not talking a £10k Fabia, both cars are well specced (meaning good profit for the stealer) and are £45k+. What does it take to get these morons to pick up the phone. I will now simply go to as dealer that can be bothered, although it seems they are far and few these days. I ordered my 5 series through Coopers in Norwich as they had the right spec with the right price in stock and then knocked another 2300 quid off it. Salesman was a dream to deal with. Nothing was too much bother for him and they delivered it up here for 200 quid. Can't complain with their service really from the first call to delivery.

Try Sam Howlett up there. That was the guy I dealt with. Current, M135i in Estoril Blue with more extras than the cast of Ben Hur.

I always work out the best deal by finding the exact spec and price I want online

I then try to find 2 more cars of equal value, I then try get 3 quotes from different dealers

its a pain but can save thousands, this time I did the same

wanted a Aston vantage for about 50k

got quotes from 2 dealerships for cars that turned out to be 55k
got quotes for a R8 for 62k but upped my deposit so I was borrowing the same amount
got a quote for a Nissan GTR for 50k but reduced my deposit borrowing the same amount
got a quote for an M3 convertible for 55k

that way I had a mix and match and worked out roughly how good my deal was

between all these believe it or not the prices differed by up to £500 a month over 2 years Shocked

and the car I decided on came down £200 per month from the original quote

Are you really surprised by this VA? They are a business not a charity. I wouldn't have thought any dealer you don't already have a relationship with will just give you their very best quote straight off. As much as most of us don't like haggling it's the only was to get the best deal. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award
