United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
New to the forum saying hi

Hi, been looking through the forum for a while now since i got the Range, and thought i'd say hello and introduce myself.

Ive just got hold of a 55 plate TDV6 HSE, witch to be honest i'm not overly impressed with but hey....the Mrs loves it and its practical for the kids.

Being an early model its not really got a lot in the way of creature comforts, just the normal stuff like the sat nav, harmon kardon blah blah.

Couple of things that have got my back up about the Range, being the price they are is.

1. I find it hard to believe in such a costly set of wheels that when you plug your iphone into the aux you can hardly hear it cos it doesn't run through the amp.

2. The pull out load cover in the boot doesn't seem to be long enough from end to end to sit in the recesses of the trim either side and keeps falling out Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

3. It doesnt even have the bloody bluetooth ( i know its an early model ) but cmon its not a ford fiesta.

4. The position of the window switches stuck way up the front of the door trim like that.

Anyway, rant over. I am otherwise reasonably pleased to be driving around in a RRS, other than the above i am happy and the 1st thing on the mods list is a set of Overfinch super sport 22's ( probably reps )

Thanks guys and girls for such an informative forum and i hope my rant hasn't offended anyone.

You answered most off the negatives when you said it is an early model, as development of both the car and iPhones went on most of those problems have been sorted! My last but one car was an 04 merc ml, and it was lucky to have a stereo!!
Enjoy it for the cruiser it is! Thumbs Up

Welcome to the forum

Are you certain that your car doesn't have Bluetooth? They are supposed to all have had Bluetooth from launch, my 55 TDV6 HSE certainly has Bluetooth Thumbs Up

Re aux input volume, all manufacturers are crap in this regard, our BMW and previous Mercs all had poor volume. I suspect that due to the potential for varied volumes of input the levels are kept low to avoid damage to the amps etc.

There is a little amplifier thing that you can get from Amazon for a few quid that increases the volume of your iPod

Enjoy cruising in your car and make sure that you get it off road Very Happy

@felstmiester

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps a couple of answers.

Point 1:- do you have a lead that plugs into the headphone jack of the iPhone? Try sourcing one that connects to the pin connectors at the bottom this will give you better volume.
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic16724-15.html

Point 2:- It may be that you have a freelander load cover as opposed to the RRS one. I remember reading something to this effect on here a while ago.
http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic18811....load+cover

Point 3:- No idea

Point 4:- Yup. I'm 6'2" and still need to reach as I sit that far back. Sad

Hpoe some of this helps you out.

Hi feltmiester welcome to forum
I loved my rangey when 1st got it but didn't like wheels after a lot of looking got set of 20 in stormers love it even more now.
I plug my iphone in aux plug to as people couldn't hear me through car bluetooth.
The pro's for the car much outweigh the con's

Try not to get replica wheels if you can some not up to spec.

Enjoy

Thanks for the comment guys. Some of witch even though ive done a lot of searching i didn't know.

As for the load cover, looking at the link mine is deff the wrong one. Looks like mines gonna have to go on ebay to make way for the one that fits. Mine is exactly like the one in the pics.

Aux from earphone plug makes sense. ebay again for the proper one.

Also need to get a standard swan neck tow bar but don't fancy paying the rediculous prices some of them go for. My Range came with a heavy duty tow bar with a big drop link attachment on it, still kinda detachable but we got fed up with doing our shins on it everytime we walked round the back of the car so have took that off. Another item to go on ebay lol.

I do fancy a set of 22's and love the super sport overfinch but i have read that the reps tend to crack so i'll be scouring the net for maybe a curbed set of orriginals to keep the cost down, i'll be having them sprayed graphite anyway i think so not a big deal if they're not mint. Oh i absolutely love the Olympus overfinch one's but they're way out of the price range for me at the moment.

I have also brought some EGR blanks wich i hope to get done soon as last time the car was plugged in to the diagnotics one was weaker than the other. Not sure if this will be a prob if i'm blanking them???

Ok guys here goes. I'm not a Range Rover man myself.....well not untill now!! I wasn't even sure what an RRS was all about but having owned a P38 a short while ago i just had to have the smaller newer revamped sport model. The previous owner told me she's a gem. You guys make your own mind up.
