I must admit I've not driven the petrol RRS, as this is my daily driver and I prefer the economy.

The 4.2 does have the grin factor, a corking car to drive but you pay a premium at the fuel pump! The 2.7 TDV6 is a nice drive, the acceleration isn't going to set your pants on fire but it is better on fuel. TDV8, is a nice compromise... Pretty quick (though not as quick as the 4.2) and driven sensibly, it'll return a decent economy (but probably out of your price range). I'm sure someone will comment that you can chip them but I personally keep away from things like that. M |

Will only be doing about 5k per annum so not too worried about fuel. Thanks for the responses so far, all very helpful !

IMHO - TDV8 However, in your position, I'd probably go for a higher mileage, early 4.2 on the basis that it has already had the arse kicked out of its value. As long as it has been looked after, I think the higher mileage ones are slightly better as the engine is just about run in... If you want to make it that little bit more desirable, I think the Vesuvius Orange ones will be a little more desirable in a few years. M |

Thanks Camel - try telling that to the missus ! Grey or silver are her choice with Java as a 3rd option. I take it all the DR/suspension issues would be sorted with the 4.2 SC's by now ? Just spent an hour reading through the technical stickies which made slightly sobering reading ! |
