Help No Dipstick.......

Im about to check the oil in my car ( my dad told me to), however in the MY11 there is no dipstick. Is nothing ever easy...

On finding out their is a service menu i try to run through the correct steps of checking my oil electronically.

It however is not working. I have tried to do this when the car is stationary and has not been run. Ive followed the instructions in the manual and still cant get a reading.

Can any one help? or offer suggestions?

Thanks Foxy ! Smile

Foxy
I did this a couple of days ago, firstly your oil needs to be warm at operating temperature then switch your engine off for 10 minutes for all oil to settle then go though procedure detailed,if it is OK you just get "OK" come up,if not it tells you exactly how much oil to add. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Do you not cycle through the menu with the car switched to point one to access a further part of the OBD. It tells you in the manual how to do it though.

Make sure engine is hot then park on level ground, stop engine and wait 15 minutes. Then press start/stop button without pressing the brake pedal, this turns the ignition on without trying to start the car. Then check the level indication.

I believe from MY2010 onwards, there are no dipsticks in the engines! Wink

An ultrasonic sensor provides an electronic indication when the oil in the oil pan is low or high. This removes the requirement for the mechanical dipstick. An advantage in comparison with the static 'dipstick' method is that all marginal influences, for example vehicle being on a slope, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, are compensated for by averaging.

The values determined can be used to signal that the minimum oil level has been reached or to display the current oil level if required.

The sensor is mounted inside the oil pan where it sends an ultrasonic pulse vertically upward, it then measures the time for the pulse to be reflected back from the top surface of the oil.

Warnings will be displayed in the message center if the oil level is not maintained within the safe operating levels (minimum and maximum). A warning will also be displayed if there is a fault with the oil level monitoring system.

Hope this helps. Smile Malaysia Boleh!
