My Z4 broken into...any advice?

Ok, Sat night I had my car broken into....and yes I think I may have left the car open.....car has had a good going thru, and in the boot was my bag with cards, some cash, passport, drivers licence etc....and car books, service etc...

No sign of forced entry hence why I think I may have left it open

So, passport, credit cards and other bits and pieces found up the road....but no manuals, may have had log book in there too, and my drivers licence gone too.

Question is.....do you think the tossers may apply for a new key and come back and take it?

Dealers say they need log book, photo ID and two forms of proof of address....

Any thoughts??

Nick, bad new mate and feel sorry for you.
Get the dealers to register it on the BMW system having been broken into and had the docs stolen, that should stop them from going to any BMW dealer to get the key copied if it goes nationwide. I think you may be looking at a new locking system though as a minimum precaution to it being stolen. Have you also told your insurer? If it does get stolen they might refuse to pay up on non-disclosure of the car being broken into, even if you don't claim for the new locks 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Follow Tims advice then rethink - may be you did lock it - no idea how entry was gained...... then delete this thread....

Got any where else you can store for a while for added protection?

Don't forget your leather jacket, vid cam and golf clubs on the insurance claim Whistle

Sorry to hear of this but best of luck Thumbs Up

Does your Z4 have keyless entry? There is a wave of cars being stolen that have that as it is so easy to capture the keycard/ lock signals with a scanner 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sometimes honesty can be expensive.

An insurance company will not payout if a car is left unattended and unlocked - (contrbutory negligence) but that couldn't apply to Nick could it !!

Well if they were after the car, they would have kept my passport and credit cards as further ID, the licence was concealed in a credit card holder, so perhaps why not thrown out....let's see. Will order new log book and licence tomorrow...and make DVLA aware....and no I would even tell me insurance company I was getting a friction haircut let alone this happening!!

well some good news, no, all my Louis Vuitton stuff is still missing ( Embarassed ) but the car documents, log book, service books etc were all in my desk at my office.....so panic over.

Still £800 down on stuff they took - but not worth claiming on car or household as I am sure car will only be up to a certain amount and I have a £500 excess...
