My elderly father is trying to sell his motorhome - he put one ad in a local paper and has had a call from a "broker" who would like to sell it for him at a holiday/camping exhibition in Peterborough in a few weeks time and will come and collect it and take there for him........................... I have had the utmost difficulty persuading Dad that he is about to hand over £20k of motorhome and keys to some bloke he doesn't know from Adam to take to a an exhibition.............. all on the promise that my father will get his money and then the guy will charge him the cost of getting the home to the exhibition + commission. He just will not accept that he shouldn't do this sort of deal in this day and age as all he is likely to get left with is a set of keys and because he handed over the other set his insurance won't pay out. My father ran a very successful business up until retirement in the 1990's but computer scam savvy/ scam savvy - no way - he believes anything is genuine! Makes you wonder how many other oldies loose valuable cars/ possessions this way and then don't report it because they are far to embarrassed to admit that they have been conned 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Oh No Sorry Buster ! !

One more scam to look out for is when i was looking for a ffrr, someone one had one advertised on auto trader. I found the exact car on ebay and through a few emails badly translated, I unearthed a car buying scam. !
The original car was held by a garage in Bury and the ebay seller was mysteriously out of the country too. However I phoned the garage to make the sellers aware of this. WHo knows, if someone would have bought off ebay would they have stolen the car, would it be a ringer? I alerted the police and ebay but not a lot they can do ! Smile

I know of a Nigerian Prince who is trying to get his fleet of high powered cars out of Africa!

If you send him your bank details, he will send you the money to fly over and drive one of his cars to the UK, pay the import duty and pocket about £25,000.

Anyone interested?
