why use a pre wash with wax, surely the wax will be washed off when you get hands on?

I suppose if you go for a touchless wash it would help, but the wax will be on top of any grime that is left

i never get hands on after the snow foaming,just dry it off with a very large microfibre cloth.
i have never waxed any of my cars but i always get compliments on how clean it looks and gow long it keeps its shine.
even the guy where i get my products from is surprised.
my lad uses the two bucket technic after snow foaming his car but he also clay bars it every now and then.
i may clay my rrs sometime this year but am happy with the results as they stand at the moment.

Can someone please explain to me what clay bars do and what they are as google is telling me strange and graphic things ! 

It removes contaminates from the paintwork to make it smooth as glass. It may look clean but once you use the clay bar you'll be amazed at how much crap comes off. I don't think you'll need to do it to yours for a good 6-8 months probably.

Clay ing is good, but you won't med it for a while.....about 2/3 months down the line....

just be careful you do not get any grit caught up in the clay bar as it may scratch the paintwork,this was a tip given to me.
so ensure you check the clay after and during each panel.but i think you will feel if there is grit in it.

siberianfox - I absolutely love the clay bar method, although your RRS is so new that you won't need to do it just yet.

Once every few months I wash the car twice by hand to remove grit/loose contaminents, dry with a large drying towel, clay bar entire car makes it like glass (I never see grit in the clay, you will see it go brown with the road tar/glue/tree sap it is removing so keep folding and kneeding it in your hand to get a fresh side, this stuff is amazing but dont drop it on the floor), polish the entire car to sort out swirls and then finally wax the entire car to protect it.

I do the above every few months as I said but i wash the car once a week. Simply wash twice, dry and then polish and wax one panel of my choosing (I dont clay or polish/wax the entire car each time).

I am intending to do the above detailing every few months as normal but the weekly wash shall be done by a ph neutral snowfoam, no contact washing and then lightly use a drying towel I think.

All Im doing now on my car is jst using the two bucket method with poorboys shampoo and nothing else. It seems to be really shiny and the dirt just slides off the paintwork. Still getting the water beading when its wet. I am starting to think that i have Car based OCD I am thinking about washing it now as its "dirty"
