Scotland 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Santorini Black
OEM v Aftermarket Side Steps - Help/Opinions please

Afternoon all

I knew they'd be expensive, but having just been quoted £725 (albeit fitted) Shocked from the local dealer for a set of side steps I wondered if:

a) Anyone has a set fitted that they bought from our sponsor DCC 4x4 (or similar)?

b) If they do what are your thoughts on them e.g. there finish/appearance/general quality/are they sturdy enough to actually bear weight? (15 stones to be precise Embarassed )

c) Lastly, does anyone know of anywhere in or around Edinburgh that would fit them - as much as there are fitting instructions included, I wouldn't trust myself with these as I would want them to be functional and not just improve the appearance!

Thanks

John

I would always advocate buying and fitting anything you stick to your RRS by dealer.......I'm not a fan of anyone but LR touching my car......

I think £715 for side steps fitted is fair, I must do, I've paid it.....twice!

It it was a corsa I could understand trying to save a few quid but these are 50K+ vehicles.....

Get a set from LR Merseyworld, they are 249 and come with the pre cut trims. A few basic tools and a couple of hours of your time are all you need to fit them.

This may eb a really silly question (please bear with me, new owner!), but..........

are the std side steps actually capable of being used for stepping on?
or are they for show?

Cheers,

Andy

Agreed, I got a set off them a few weeks ago and got them fitted by a local bodyshop, indistinguishable from OEM in my opinion Very Happy

I was told by the lads in the bodyshop they are a bit of a pain to fit but once on they look superb, and all for under £350 Laughing

Get a set of OEMs from one of the supporting dealers on this site, or disco3 site, the big one from Yeovil is often competitive.

Then fit them yourself, the instructions are fairly straight forward and it should take about 3 hours when you haven't done it before.....

If you have a go, I am happy to talk you through this as I have done this twice before, PM me and I will give you my number to chat about it.

Go'orn, save yourself some money and learn about your car Smile

Nathan - no the LR Merseyworld steps are not OEM but are, according to the guy I spoke to down there last week (James), an exact copy that come with the pre cut side sills.
