Smoke from small pipe at front of my RRS

Hi all,

I've noticed that every now and again, when I stop my engine there is a lot of smoke being emitted from the font. Initially I thought it was coming from somewhere in the front offside wheel arch but I managed to grovel underneath this morning and find exactly where it is coming from.

If I look underneath the front, positioned roughly behind the towing eye is a small metal pipe with an open end, the smoke it coming from here. Its a greyish white smoke and smells heavily of diesel.

Any ideas?

It is the fuel burning heater, perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

Do a search and it will reveal a few threads on it.

Scotland 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

is it only diesels that have this?

the manual for my supercharged mentions something about a heater for the engine but i wasn't sure if it applied to all models.

Did you buy it in Vatican city?

If the smoke is white, a new pope has been elected.... Laughing

Yes, just diesels have the FBH (Fuel Burning Heater) as they take longer to warm up than a petrol vehicle, therefore it is a bit of a helping hand in the cold months.
