United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey
Help with a new purchase required ##Car now purchased##

Afternoon all..

I'm looking for a RRS HSE TDV8 and have a few questions I hope you might be able to help me with.. Here goes...

If I find a car without a tow bar fitted, can I get the factory 'invisible' one retro fitted? If so, how much?

My budget is between £30 and £35k - were there any model revisions or spec changes early in the tdv8 life which I should look out for?

Obviously, the original LR warranty will have run out - if I buy from a non franchised dealer, can I purchase the LR warranty? If so, how much/good is it?

I notice that some adverts say the car is 'iPod compatible' does this mean properly compatible or just an 'auxiliary' jack.

Are there any options worth ensuring I look for? Not fussed about running boards etc..

I would be happy to look at buying from auction - are there any in the south of England which are more worth looking at than others?

Finally, other than main dealers, are there any places I should look at specifically to purchase from (or not purchase from!)

thanks in advance for your help.. Hope to be able to update my profile with a car soon...

Cheers,
James

Hi James,

Firstly all V8's are HSE spec so no worries there......

LR extended warranty about £800 a year.....may be worth it, personally I would run the risk without warranty but that's me.

iPod compatible will just mean aux plug unless something has been retro fitted.

i would suggest factory fitted (not retro) privacy glass is a must, tv is nice to have, 20" wheels, colour coded door handles etc etc.

Thanks jonny, do you know where I can download a brochure of 07/08 model cars so I can see what options were available?

Thanks mate. I was looking for something a bit more STD than that. Wheels no larger than 20s. Stornoway is ideal exterior colour with black interior and the HST Kit isn't really for me either. I'm after something that looks like this.

But with bigger wheels.. And the V8

Cheers,
J

Hi James,

Try Parker's, this gives what seems to be an accurate list of the standard features, options, cost of option & changes to spec for the TDV8.

The LR kit for the iPod/MP3 kit is about £200 if it isn't already fitted. Think this was a dealer accessory not a factory option.

In regard to options to look out for; as Jonny said, it's a TDV8 so has HSE spec as standard which is plenty of stuff, so it's down to personal choice whether stuff like Rear Seat Entertainment or Privacy glass is important to you.

Sorry, don't know about your other questions.

Cheers,

Mark

Ahhhh.....you should have said you were over 50....... Wink only joking

There's some real peaches in terms of standard cars out there for your budget......

I agree with 20s by the way, they still look great and dont screw with your warranty Thumbs Up

2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Hi James, I have an 08 Black TDVE HSE and its an epic machine. All standard other than the Ipod kit which was fitted at the stealers. Its the official LR i pod kit and i highly reccomend it. Ive also just purchased a LR warranty as mine expired in Jan. I went with the full monty optionwhich comes with LR assistance and that was £890 for the year. You can pay this monthly by dd if you dont have the 890 sitting around!!! You wont regret it. TDV8 is amazing.

Good luck

Mark

Thanks mark.. How does the official iPod kit work? Can you access playlists etc from the touchscreen, does it charge? Is it compatible with an iphone4? (sorry for all the questions)

if I purchase the car from LR I get a full 1 yr warranty with it and can then extend afterwards like you've done..

Not long now I recon...

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

All TDv8's got 20" wheels on the production line, standard was the "supercharged" 10 x Vee spoke design but there were other options from Land Rover available. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

It wont work with your ipod 4 im afraid. When i put my ipod 4 in the cradle i get an error message come up on the phone. Bluetooth for the 4 is a breeze and works very well with the LR. Easy to pair up also. I use my ipod touch in the cradle and yes you can use all the touch screen functions on the ipod. I can scroll through the songs using the steering wheel buttons as well which is a bonus Very Happy Yes it charges your ipod as well.
If you dont have a touch then the cradle comes with different sized attachments which will fit the nano for example.

All the wiring is hidden away and you’ve got some extra Aux ports tucked away in the upper glove box.

Don’t hang around mate because used RRS prices are on the up fast

Update.... Bought the car today.. Well happy.. Stornoway with black leather, sunroof, tow bar, tv and monitors in headrests with 6 disc DVD changer..

Will the official LR iPod item work with the tv/DVD setup? I think I've read somewhere that it won't and I will have to make do with the aux socket Sad seems a shame when it's got all the other kit fitted (which I probably won't use). happy to loose the 6 disc cd player.

Cheers
J
