Is ther any north east England members on here? As just moved near yarm was wondering if thers any garages/ LR specialists in the area and if anyone would be interested in a meet/run?

I live very close to Yarm and i know of a specialist, see link. I've never used them so can't say how good or bad they are though.

I'm north east also (Newcastle upon tyne)

Best place I know is through a place on the "Team Vally" quick google search will find them. But will be others closer to yarm than that one. 08MY HSE 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway Grey, Twisted performance cat back... and shed loads of extras!!!

Team Valley are as expensive as the main dealers, Northern are half the price but if im honest their premises put me off a lot. Back street garage type and i wasn't comfortable.

Don't get me wrong, they were very helpful and polite but i just wasnt sure, a main dealer may be more expesnive but if you get the right dealer (don't go to Stratstone Stockton) then id say do that. Its the way im going to go.

I have found Ripon Land Rover to be the best around here. They are about 30miles from you so not too far away and they are much better than Stratstone who are a money making machine first and foremost.

Just my opinion ofcourse. I like jobs doing right and have a worry that using Northern may save me some ££ but if there was a problem i am not sure how they would handle that.

Another indy near Sunderland (Les Potts) did some work on my last FFRR and put a set of wheels inside my car without any covers on them, needless to say they ruined my ivory leather. I complained but nothing was done about it. Ruff and ready mechanics with no thought for other peoples stuff. I doubt a main dealer would do such a thing.

I bought mine from Ripon LR and found the staff there very helpful and thats why mines going back there for some work and not Stratstones in Stockton which is much closer.

Thanks guys. I got mine from Stratstone Stockton and tbh they wer spot on but I have heard mixed reviews about them. Would be good to get a meet organised if we could get enough numbers all be back from work in about a month.

I believe I am going for a general meeting at Yarm, on Monday funnily enough, for 6.00pm.

Though I live at Tynemmouth, near the Coast and am in and out of Newcastle, a great deal of the time.

We could meet up - I could anyway; as long as well in advance, and wasn't away abroad or in London.


Monday - be early evening @ 6.00pm and in the high street - in Grey Sport; probably parking up for an hour and half or so.

But a drive, or visit somewhere like Brass Castle, High force near Durham or N. York moors would be good.
