There are two belts on a RRS one at the front of the engine and one at the rear

I believe that if you take your car to a dealer they will take the body off to replace the cambelts roughly £800

The rear belt is the problem one which if you do your self then you will require a special tool about £100. However if not replaced and fails does not do do any engine damage, engine will stop due to no fuel.

I'm sure Bobby will be able to help with more detailed information

i understand that is the only way to take the rear belt of, but that the front camshaft belt is more straightforward.

would be interesting to know definitively before I try and start

im convinced that the job is straightforward and that the rear belt is fiddly but doesnt need the body off ( this was confirmed by my local stealer) and a good article on the Disco3 website

couple of questions if anyone can help...

as you look from the front of the car does the fan come off by turning clockwise or anti clockwise as you look at it

also is the crankshaft pulley likely to be absolutely solid...any ideas how to get of without a puller..anyone got recent experience

also how do you remove the accessory belt, im assuming there is a moveable tensioner, has anyone a pic of which one this is and which direction it moves to release

ive looked online and only special tools seem to be timing pin to secure camshafts, tool for locking crankshaft via starter, tools for the fan and thats it apart from normal spanners and loads of patience

the belt has been changed, well the front one at least. The job was done in a few hours...very straight forward.

I have the special tools for the camshaft locking and for the fan removal, both are essential to do the job. so if anyone would like to do the job themselves it would be £8 excluding the postage and a £2 donation to the RRSport website for the hire of the tools, this would be for a week once the tools have been received. not asking for deposits as we should have some trust in each other on the site

Let me know if anyone fancies doing the job themselves.

Incidentally the old belt was in near perfect condition

just the rear one now...and special tools arent required for that one.

since changing the belt the car feels more responsive, press the accelerator and the pick up is a lot quicker
