Just a general query as topic subject above.

Will ask local dealer tomorrow but would be nice to know before hand if people have had it done and it is do-able or a no-no, or dependable if they want to move the stock.

I have bought cars at 'a distance' before but always easier doing it locally.

They can if they are in the same group, ie perrys own rocar moores land rover near huddersfield and also copley land rover near halifax.

Any dealer can get any car from any other dealer. In the case of NEW it all depends on whether the dealer has something suitable to swap back..... (i.e. Same model, same spec but different colour combo).

In the case of used then one dealer buys from another with the selling dealer taking a handling margin and the supplying dealer taking lest of a margin than usual.

In my experience, speak to your local dealer regarding new, and if they can do a deal you are happy with and can get a car then hey-presto, if not then broaden your search. Regarding used, each car is utterly unique due to age, mileage, condition, history and price, therefore it pays to do a network search.

Thanks James, it is a specific used vehicle we are looking on the LR website (at some 350 miles from us), so hope it will be okay.

I will speak to the local boys tomorrow.

If it doesn't come off, I wish there was a forum contact in the trade that could help us out....

stratstones expressly offer to get a car from another stratstone dealer. which can be handy. however they ask you to pay a deposit, so no free lunch there.

Town & County refused to do so when I looked for an FL2

When I went for the RRS Stratstones Jaguar in Aberdeen got the car I wanted from Stratstones LR in Doncaster I think it was.

No Deposit was asked for as it was from England to Scotland (Diff deposit rules I was told). Sales was good but aftersales and some sales promises not met so dont handover the readies or sign until ALL promises are met. Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!
Ex- RRS HSE TDV6 07 Java Black, bi xenon, corner lights, side steps, tints, cool box, smoke side repeats, chrome "sport" boot sill

Spoke to dealer today. They say are happy to try and get one of the recommended vehicles.

They say it is usually okay as long as it isn't a S*%$£stones.
