Side steps + wife = not happy! Warrenty?

Wife says "I never feel like I can put all of my weight onto the side steps" I say " don't we silly it's what they are designed for" then she manages, somehow, to kick the silver trim part off and now i can not get it back on. Very angry. Am I covered under warranty and has this happened to anyone? Car is 07........ So Censored off. Any help please. And before you say it, wife's 8.5 stone Smile You can live in your car but you cant race your house
just put white indicatrs on, have all black badges ready and have quote for rear tints and dvd's

Not sure if covered under a warranty but I know there have been other threads on people loosing the trim in the snow I think and the answers on the threads have been that the whole step needs replacing. You can't just buy the trim apparently Sad

I completely sympathise with you on this. Christmas day I was heading North to Newcastle and the silver trim from my drivers-side step came off and hit the car behind, I felt a real tosser explaining to the Audi TT driver behind why there was a gash on his bonnet. Very long story short I took my sport to Ripon land Rover (as my RRS was/is still in warranty) and explained the situation they told me that they would have to replace the whole side step and that this could not be done under warranty as they couldn't prove whether or not my steps were fitted post factory... Censored unbelievable ... I love the land Rover brand so much but I'm going to find it very hard to buy another.

both mine fell off on the driveway when we had the snow they are easy to put back on just raise the car to off road height push it back on climb under the car and you can see a recess in the step its self drill a few pilot holes through the back with a small metal brill bit and then screw through the holes with a screw big enough to go through recess and into metal trim make sure the screw is long enough to go through both and not to long it comes out of the front of the trim i was able to do this as iam very good at diy a lot cheaper than replacing the 2 steps hope this helps Thumbs Up

Loose the wife, loose the weight and loose the side steps all together. Wink SW

Just taken the RR to the local car workshop and the guys have done a sterling job. I owe the wife an appology because i asked the garage to check the other side and when they checked that fell off too. The drilled out the holes bigger and used some large self tappers. apparnently there is "no way they are going anywhere" V happy. I also had the rear badge changed to black so they all match. 1.5 hours labour at a cost of £82.73 so vs the RR cost of £782 im very happy indeed......... You can live in your car but you cant race your house
