United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Kismet110, the S/C doesn't have the EGR valve problem AFAIK.

My experience was on my Mercedes SL that i owned prior to the RRS. I bough their top level of cover then a week later had a sudden failure which the MB main dealer confirmed was a failure and advised WD of the cost. It was circa £2k to fix so WD decided to reject the claim because it was "too new" and cancelled the policy. I was paying on interest free so had given them about £60 so my guess was they thought, refund £60 or pay £2000 and gues what they decided.

I complained and they admitted that the claim shouldn't have been rejected but wanted to change the terms if i took the policy back out with them.

My worry is that they would repeat this scenario if i was unlucky and had a failure early in the policy.

Thanks Carlos50 for sharing that, slightly worrying seeing as it was sudden failure and (I assume) not a 'wear & tear' or pre-existing condition?

Don't know, never bought a warranty before but after forking out the same cost as the proposed cost for just two smallish things since purchase (PDC Sounder Fault + SRS Fault) I'm very tempted to do so.

Thanks for that, not sure what the LR Extension Warranty covers but I assume Service/MOT are not included (and do know wear and tear definitely aren't). Also, is this only for extension of existing or taking one out AFTER the initial one has expired?

Another thought; if I were to take the Independent Garage option wouldn't it potentialy be a real pain? Most issues first surface via sensors/dashboard errors so it would be a trip to the dealership for the diags, insistence on meaningful printout of the problem then go to the independent garage to get the repair done - and BACK to the dealership to clear the error code/rerun diags?!?

Extension is only for LR warranted cars that come to their expriy. I have asked LR and they wont sell a warranty unless i have one already and its about to expire.

Thanks for that Carlos50.

Quick update: was called again by Warranty Direct, now offering to switch my cover to Main Dealer rather than Indendent Garage for £775 (extra £30).

This is for SecureCare (+Airbags/Emissions) but my vehicle does qualify for ExtraCare (which adds SatNav, ICE, Alarm) so might ask for that for a round £800 - any thoughts/suggestions?

Service/MOT due in a month so wear and tear items won't be covered as 90 day exclusion but could do with some input ASAP as they are due to call me back 17:30 tonight!

Cheers

Ali

Hi Ali

My RRS didnt qualify for Luxury Care but they said they would offer it. Hold out for the better level of cover, which i was quoted £700 for. Despite what the policy says none of their cover included Sat Nav, its an extra and was included in the £700 quoted price i was given only last week. This was for main dealer, 13 months for price of 12, and "wear and tear reduced to 60 days". Thats something ive had them do on past policies and was included in the £700.

Your quote isnt the best, tell them £700 for Extra Care, main dealer rates, 13 months cover, 60 day wear and tear and this included Sat Nav. I think Extra care has £0 excess also, so make sure you get it, they normally want to charge £50 unless you specify £0.

Thanks Carlos for your speedy input, appreciate it. I'm a cr*p negotiator ( once haggled MYSELF out of an extra days paid holiday Rolling Eyes ) but will try and hold out for better; maybe ExtraCare, 60 Days Wear & Tear, SatNav/ICE/Alarm & £0 Excess for £700?

Id say go for it if they offer that. Because your mileage doesn't allow auto qualification for Extra Care they will probably add to the premium over a car that qualifies like mine for example. They have done that for me with the Lux Care because my mileage is fine but too old by a few months.

I also got them to allow 12 months payments for a small fee which allows you to keep the cash in the bank. They have suggested extra discount over the premium if you pay upfront so again ask this.

Once in place, get your MOT but hold the service if you can (don't void the manufacturers schedule) and get it done after 60 days.

Cheers! Mileage is OK for the ExtraCare (64K) but didn't know they charge for 12 months (which is what I was intending to go for) so will ask the cost and assess.

Is the leeway for servicing 500 Miles/30 Days? If the latter then would just about qualify I think if I took out the policy today and got it serviced 18th March (due on 19th Feb) - would appreciate input on this point if you/anyone knows for sure?

You will need to check your RRS service handbook since the Sport doesn't have an on dash notification.

I'm not sure what the LR service schedule says, if it doesn't put a limit then happy days, if it does then abide by it, the Extra Care policy booklet says you must service in accordance with the LR service guidelines.

Be wary that i had a policy cancelled b WD because i made a claim when the policy was "too new" in their words so rather than pay the £2,400 bill they gave me my monthly payment back and cancelled the cover.

That's why i haven't taken the WD cover yet.

Oh ok, the service guideline i printed from here shows that for the FFRR only, perhaps it changed after a particular year?

Thanks, missed the call from WD as was in a meeting so tomorrow I'm gonna call LR to get the Service info.

Also, I don't see any service indicator on my dash? There's a sticker top right corner of windscreen with "Next Service Due" date on it so I guess the dash warning is FFRR only?

Cheers

Ali
