New Battery, New alternator and still having problems!!!! | |
Hi all,
I own a 2005 tdv6 se RRS and over the last couple of months I have been having starting problems.
The problem started when I went to start it from cold in the morning, it was displaying hdc faults and sometimes special programmes off, but after a couple of attempts it would start fine. Then it got so it wouldn't start at all and it was just making a clicking sound but the engine wouldn't start up. So I put the battery on charge for an hour then it started fine, but after happening a couple more times I just decided to change the battery.
The car ran fine for about a day on the new battery then the same thing happened again, it was just making a clicking noise and not starting up. So I've taken the car to the land rover main dealer and they've replaced the alternator as they said there was an intermitting fault on it.
Collected the car from the garage this evening drove it back everything was fine, locked it up outside my office and after being back about half an hour I noticed my hazzards were flashing and there was quite a loud ticking noise coming from behind the front grill, the car wouldn't unlock so I had to get in through the emergency lock on the passenger door, reached over and put the key in the ignition and the car was dead. I then disconnected the battery so it stopped the hazzards from flashing, as the hazzard button on the dash wouldn't do anything. I then gave it a few minutes before recconnecting the battery then the alarm started going off, but the key remote then worked so I could get in and turn the alarm off. I then put the key in the ignition my auto lights went on, stereo came on, then turned the key and the car is just making a clicking noise and won't start???
Any help/advice would be gratefully recieved
Thanks
Scott
