Warranty question?

Have had two quotes regarding extending the warranty........

Warranty UK £900 for three years (Premier cover)

Warranty Direct £628 for one year

Now i have looked at both and they both 'seem pretty much the same.

Any of you guys use any of the above????

Warranty Direct.....

You are eligible for our LUXURY CARE level of cover, and I have attached our policy booklet so you can view exactly what we cover. In addition, Warranty Direct cover you for Wear and Tear claims on your vehicle meaning that if part has failed because it has “worn down” then we still cover the claim, this may sound straight forward but beware of some companies offering cover only against “Immediate sudden failure”. If wear and tear isn’t covered, almost any claim can be turned down as a result and wear and tear claims account for a large percentage of our work.

In addition, we cover problems found in your MOT or annual service which is a massive factor and we also cover consequential damage (damage caused by uninsured parts). If you don’t have these four areas covered on your policy then the warranty has a ready made get out clause.

Compare your Warranty

Do they have a wear and tear exclusion?
Do they have a consequential loss exclusion?
Do they cover failures found in an annual service or MOT?
Do they cover the cost of diagnostics?
Do they have an overheating exclusion?
Do they guarantee 100% of the hourly labour rate?

Warranty Direct guarantee all of the above.

Quotation

£750.00 for 12 months on the comprehensive cover on the FRANCHSIED LABOUR RATE ---100% LABOUR and PARTS at any LANDROVER or any other VAT REGISTERED garage of your choice up to £200/hour.

Or

£628.00 for 12 months on the comprehensive cover on the NETWORK LABOUR RATE ---100% LABOUR and PARTS at any VAT REGISTERED garage of your choice up to £60/hour.

I'm having this dilemma right now, got a quoted for £895 Luxury Cover inc Sat Nav and LR dealer rates but KAM offers his product for less than half that amount and 12 months interest free.

Only problem is KAM doesn't think his will cover things like bushes for example.

Warren G, who you speaking to @ WD? What RRS do you have and what's the year / mileage?

Is the £628 the non franchise LR dealer rate then? I'm going to take 12 months with a small charge for doing so.

WarrenG,

Does that mean that Warranty Direct covers the above and that Kam's excludes them? therefore more cover with WD? Question

No, they both are similar in those respects.

I went for WD as the really are like the manufactures warrranty, even down to wear and tear. They are also covering all the in car entertainment AND Satnav. They also give you better rates for car hire/towing in. The MOT guarantee was also very good. Down load the PDF doc on the websites and compare.

I think WD cover bushes etc and luxury items such as heated seats and so on which KAM doesn't. Getting new bushes / control, arms etc will cover the cost of the warranty anyway. Well that's how im looking at it.

Any warranty will find excuses not to pay out if they can though Wink

My old D3 went in for replacement rear bushes (covered on WD policy)

When dealer stripped it was in fact the packing rubbers not the bush itself that had gone.... result... £220 bill for me to cover in full.

Apart from that the added piece of mind for £600 per year is worth it's weight in gold. Turbo's and air compressors are not cheap. RRS gone

Best i can seem to get is £875 inc sat nav & radio for Luxury Cover & main dealer rates on my 05 4.2 S/C. They are saying that being 05 its actually too old for Lux cover but will give me that level hence the slight increase in cost i assume.

I had a bad experience with WD last year so am a bit cautious.

Honestly Carlos,

Hold out... say you're interested but need to think...

They will come back again with a lower offer

My 2005 D3 started at £1100, then eventually they agreed £620 on an Extra Care policy but with Park Brake and EGR's added to the policy, franchise rate approved and payments split interest free over 3 months.

when I rang about the Range Rover they looked at my existing policy didn't even bother to haggle.

I did an on-line quote, came in at £875 (Independent Garage, SecureCare, '05 SC) but was called today to discuss.

They reduced to £745 & Emissions/Fuel System Cover added for free (usually an extra £50) - seeing as EGR Valves are quite a common problem that could be handy but I think I might try for the ExtraCare as it also covers SatNav, Alarm and ICE.

Are you OK to share your bad experience? If not no problem.

EDIT: Found compare table on website, removed superfluous paragraph.
