Danhag controller install

Here a quick guide to the installation of the Danhag FBH controller
This is on a LHD, TDV8, auto gearbox, there might be slight differences on other models.

To dismantle the console
start with the radio side panels

Just pull carefully, they are held by 2 clips each side, try not to loose any Wink

remove the 2 screws holding the wood trim(you can see them next to the radio turn buttons

remove the gearbox handle, just pull upwards
[/img]

remove the gearbox handle trim, lift the back, pull slightly backward, lift

remove the centre console cover, lift the back, then pull backwards and lift, on some cars there might be an extra screw at the back, be careful with all the wires.

remove the for screws(torx) holding the HVAC panel, again, try not to loose them

pull out the panel and disconnect the plugs

Connect all the wires according to the thread in the Disco site, remember where it says green/white and green/black it actually means LIGHT green and white or black.

Couple of suggestions/tips

I did not want to drill the glove box to fit the controller, instead I fixed it with velcro at the bottom of the glove box, probably not the best for reception, but I might move the antenna to a better location or even better connect it to the existing and unused roof antenna

Also, the instructions call for drilling the bulkhead for the FHB control wire, instead I opened the cover on the LH box

looking behind the fuel lines and the big wires harness(might not be there on RHD cars, lucky guys)

on the bulkhead you should see a grommet, remove it(do not loose it as I did), behind it you will see the sound proofing cover, punch a hole through it and pull the wire from there, punch a hole in the grommet and pull the wire through it and refit it. On LHD cars is very tight there, try not to get your hand stuck(don't ask Wink ) in RHD cars is probably easier. You can just see the grommet with the wire where the arrow is

I've purchased the Danhag controller as well but had no luck trying to make it start the FBH. At some point you say I should connect the wires like on the disco site. Do you have the link for that wiring?

Thx,
Silvio

Slivio,

look here

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic57865-225.html

go a bit back and forward the pages to get more informations, and see the struggle of the pioneers Very Happy

Basically the main issue was that there are similar colours wires, this created a bit of confusion, the problem wires are the one that the instructions call "green/white" and "green/ black", they should actually be called "light green/white" and "light green/black" '08 RRS TDV8

Well I connected the yellow wire to pin 2 of the webasto on my RRS, and the red and brown wires to the battery. I placed it inside the engine compartment under the hood. The GSM unit receives the SMS configuration from danhag.

I call it and I get a busy signal after 2 rings but still the unit doesn't start up.

What settings do you use for configuration SMS?

W-Bus, Pulse, Permanent, etc?

I have the simple version not the Pro one, do I need the Pro one?

W-Bus
The standard is ok, is the one we all have.

If I understand it correctly you have only the GSM controller, without the HVAC module.

Anyway, I believe that the wiring plug is the same, you could check the FBH controller by manually starting it, applying power to the green wire, pin #6 on the GSM controller '08 RRS TDV8

Also, be aware that the FBH will not start immediately, I believe it takes up to 90 seconds, in the meantime you might hear a clicking noise '08 RRS TDV8
