My MY07 has the six stacker radio and I wouldn't mind replacing it with something a little more modern - something with USB, usb controller and ipod controller, blue tooth etc.

I have done an extensive search here and on the D3 forum and appreciate that the standard radio controls the clock in the trip computer (and something else) and that a new radio needs to have fibre optics controls for the steering wheel controls to work. I have heard some people have the standard radio still fitted in a hidden spot to retain connectivity with other systems while having another radio in the dash

So has anyone successfully replaced the standard radio AND RETAINED full connectivity with systems in the car. What brand do you have?

Don't think it's possible M8. The whole system is so integrated with Sat Nav / Phone Etc. and is specific

I found a company in usa which produces an addon that allows you to control the ipod on the touchscreen, but it was quite expensive.

IIRC the OEM fitted radio/satnav/ hifi is a bespoke design by Alpine specially for LR - you might find they do something that can be integrated without loosing all the other bits 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for the comments - looks like the head unit will remain. Sound is a OK - just an archaic unit as far as modern functionality is convened.
