New buyer help

Hi fella's I'm in the market for a RRS.My budjet is around 20K,I realise this will be putting me in the market for around a 55 plate 2.7Se.What sort of things should I be looking out for on this age of vehicle? All help greatly appreciated.

Re: New buyer help

I would be looking for a full service history as a starting point.

have a search around the forum for topics. The RRS is prone to a knock or two from the front suspension (bushes). Some will claim it is a characteristic of the car. The EGR valves seem prone to being replaced - but not a major problem. Alloy wheels are prone to being kerbed and damaged - 20'' and 22'' wheels more so than standard 19''. Watch out for wear on the drivers seat. Try and get a one owner, low milage car and the HSE model is most desirable. Most of us on here are all enthusiasts and we love our cars so you will be in great company! Niggles aside, the RRS is a fabulous car. It might also be worth posting a wanted ad here on the forum as members have a tendency to progress to a new one. My own will be reluctantly parted with at the end of 2011 for a brand new one.
Good luck and Merry Christmas

You will be rather limited to higher mileage cars with your budget. You just wont find a low mileage 1 owner hse example unless you win one in a raffle! You are right you will be looking at circa 80k cars! Current 2007 RRS S/C HST Premium Edition

It will be high mileage in your price bracket but do not be put off by the scare mongers on here who seem to have a downer on high mileage motors, as with any car these days they are designed to go for many miles and as long it has been maintained and serviced when it should have been do not think you have anything to worry about.

I know many people driving plus 70K miles cars and they think they are just about run in Thumbs Up

Instead of a TDv6SE you will also find early Supercharged RRS's down at that price due to their gaz-guzzling but if you don't do a lot of miles a year then it's an option to look at - and all S/C's are HSE or HST spec so a lot more toys as well.

If you aren't too worried about the image (fat cat businessman rather than footballer) then you will certainly get the RRS's bigger brother the L322 Range Rover aka FFRR in either V8 petrol, S/C or TD6 (BMW straight 6, 3.0ltr) engines at that price, I doubt you would find any of the excellent 3.6ltr TDv8's quite that low without horrendous miles on them. The earliest FFRR's are now down at £10k for a 2003 car with >100,000 miles but these cars can take that sort of miles without showing it if they are looked after properly 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cheers fella's milage is not a great concern as Its sat on the drive most of the time,I have a van and an Audi aswell. The Freelander Hse that I bought 18 months ago has had 8k put on it in that time and I'm all over the country shooting at weekends. The milage I do at weekends is why I am looking at the diesel to be honest, had a Nissan patrol before the freelander that was awsome, you could drive 300 miles and feel fresh as a daisy, but it had a thirst Confused If anyone hears/see's anything that may be of interest a heads up would be most appreciated.
